What is Dr. Parvin's Medical Practice Focus


Dr. Parvin is one of the first Subspecialist Fellowship Trained Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists serving Will County, Kendall County for example: Plainfield, Oswego, Joliet and Romeoville Illinois. He has been practicing here since 2007. He is a current member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry www.AACAP.org. He is well academically published & has been professionally honored by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Parvin has also made national headlines by organizing Operation Chocolate for Children which impacted ~70,000 child victims of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Dr. Parvin believes in being up to date with current knowledge. His practice is cutting edge with regard to safety issues e.g. laboratory tests and clinical rating scales. He is not a believer in pills solving all problems.

He believes that most human beings can benefit from exploring treatment possibilities in the Biological, Psychological, Social and when appropriate Spiritual centers of the healing process. Biological treatments can consist in exploring the possibility of organic causes for illness e.g. seizure disorder, anemia, electrolyte abnormalities etc. and biological treatments e.g. medications. The psychological treatments focus on psychotherapy e.g. Individual or group therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Play Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis etc. Social treatments can include testing, government assistance, school support etc. Spiritual treatments would be centered on encouraging the patient's own higher power beliefs which have been shown in research articles to help in the healing process e.g. AA the number one treatment for alcohol dependence. He does not emphasize any particular faith to his patients and Dr. Parvin is respectful of religious backgrounds and cultures.
