Are You Choosing Obesity?

Silly question. Of course you are! But not intentionally of course - it's all because of your food programming. Convenient or not, our brains and every other cell in our body are programmed just like a computer. Taste buds are a great example. Did you know that it takes about 10 contacts with a new taste before the brain registers the new taste as pleasurable? 10 contacts! That's a lot of "YUCKs!" to put up with if you are a parent. As adults, unless you are stuck in the outer reaches of a third world country, it's just too easy to eat something you do like than to acclimate yourself to something "weird."

Once programmed, we go on auto pilot and do what we do just because we do. There is very little conscious thought involved. If we have programmed ourselves well, this is not a bad thing. For example, you may be suddenly overtaken by an intense craving for a tall frothy glass of raw kale juice - yum!! Yea right! But it can and does happen if you get out of your unconscious, and just plain bad food programming and choose to eat well! It will take some time but soon eating healthy foods will feel just as "natural" as McD's and Starbucks do now.

So although we will probably never see a seductive television ad promoting raw kale consumption, you can choose to reprogram your brain and your body simply by recognizing that you have been programmed in the first place! Even if you are not currently obese, you've been programmed to choose obesity and you will continue to be programmed until you say, "STOP." Your conscious awareness of the process acts to unplug you from the effects. Every food commercial, every holiday, every food additive is working against you so you must remain vigilent!

Most importantly if you are a parent, please, please, please do your children the biggest favor of their lives and disconnect them from the television. (There is a post in the forum regarding teenage girls and younger obsessed with dieting and their body - it is no mystery where this is coming from!) I know I'm a little radical but I have eliminated television from our home entirely. Yep, you read that correctly, not limited - eliminated. It's been over three years and we are doing just fine with a DVD player attached to what was formerly our family plug in for the preferred brain washing device of Big Food and Big Pharma. Do you think they spend billions on TV advertising just for kicks??

So try an alt/control/delete on your diet and re-boot with a new vision for your body and your life.
