What is one to do when a nurse or caregiver verbally abuses a resident/residents almost on a daily bases to the point that even the resident are afraid to report them in fear of them retaliating against them. Of course the correct thing to do is report them but what does a person do when the DNS, and ADMINISTRATOR ignores the complaints and allow this person to continue treating everyone the way they do. They get extremely mad if they dare ask for any of their pain meds, they talk about the residents medical history out loud in front of anyone and everyone with out a care one. They are rude to other nurses, family members, hospice nurses/caregivers. they have denied a resident a treatment cause they felt they were just faking their symptoms. Caregivers who leave their resident soaking wet cause they dont want to mess with them, caregivers who fake their vitals, and daily care cause it takes time away from sitting at the front desk or taking their hour plus lunches. And then these nursing homes wonder why they have such a huge problem passing state surverys, or get labeled the worst home in the county.I cant believe these homes would rather staff and keep crapping caregivers and nurses than get rid of them . They lose more good caring workers because of the lack of concern for the resident. I wouldnt be surprised if somewhere its written down for their private motto WEED OUT THE GOOD WORKERS KEEP THE CRAPPING WORKERS.Unfortunely this kind of uncaring care happens in every single assisted living and nursing home all over!!! And whats scary is we are trusting our parents/grandparents/loved ones in their care!!! Well i will never leave my loved one in the care of these places especially when the bosses allow this kind of care to continue on.....................
Im very active in assuring that all residents, family members, and loved ones that are placed in an assisted living or nursing home are protected from abuse by the nurses and caregivers... this includes physical, verbual, sexual, and theft on top of a lot more...
