Linus Pauling, a double Nobel Prize laureate, coined the phase Orthomolecular medicine, years ago. Unfortionately you will probably not find much about this in our libraries here in the United States, The treatment is primarily vitamins and nutrition, the Pharmaceutical Companies are too powerful. However if this peaks your interest, there is information on the web and at the Schizophrenia Foundation in California. Some doctors are practicing here in the states using these tecniques. However, it started and is used by most physicians in Canada.

Dr Abram Hoffer is one of the founders and is known for his contributions is the field of mental Health using Orthomolecular medicine with Psychiatry. Many Physicians and Scientists presented At the recent 37th Annual 2008 International Orthomolecular Medicine today Conference. Their findings using B6 for side effects of Tardive Dyskinesia and Parkinson like symtoms proved successful and Omega 3 for depression and some forms of chronic Psychosis.

An article titled "The Homocysteine Reducing Stategies improve Symtoms in Chronic Schizophrenia Patients" reported how elevated homocyteine levels are a risk factor for several diseases, including Alzheimer's and cerebrovascular disease, as well as Schizophrenia. Standard nutritional therapy to lower homocysteine levels use folic acid and vitimins b 12 and B6. This has proven to be effective especially with chronic Schizophrenia.

On the cover of Nutrition & Mental Health, Winter 2007, Quarterly Newsletter of The International Schizophrenia Foundation, there is a picture of Dr Abram Hoffer winning the inaugural Dr Rogers Prize a $250,000.00 award. His quote here is, "Every idea in medicine has to run a 40 year gauntlet before it gets accepted."

In her books The Natural medicine Guide to BIPOLAR DISORDER AND The Natural Medicine Guide To Schizophrenia, Stephanie Marohn explains how using Energy and Orthomolecular medicine along with Cranial Osteopathy, light and other types of modalities, depending on what the individual needs, cures chronic mental disorders thought to be incurable, treated up to now by poisonous medicines, that puts the disorders in remission, at best.

A Hypnosis instructor at Tulane Medical School once said he received a call from a couple of Psychiarists asking him to see one of their patients. "You are our last resort. We tried all we could on her and nothing has worked. The only thing left is a Lobotomy." "What have you tried?" the instructor asked. The answer was just about everything, including electrotherapy. At this point they explained the patient was worse. She could not sleep, had ticks and habits she did not display before and walked with a limp. The instructor asked "Why then was I not your first choice, all I do is talk to her?"

Therefore to sum it up; Orthomolecular, which is the Nutrition one needs (once the tests are taken to show what is missing from the body,) along with EFT, can cure about anything, even Schizophrenia. Or at the very least, this would be ones best chance. I have researched for so long and this is what I find that works. Why try extremes? Try the easy way first. Keep your doctor informed. That can never harm you. If it does not work, you can always move on to other alternatives.
