Should You Try a Plant-Based Meal Service?

A plant-based diet may provide health benefits, but it can also feel like a difficult switch to make. With a meal service, though, it may be possible to get just what we need delivered straight to our door making switching over to plant-based options easier. But there are other reasons to give it a shot. Let's look.

Plat-Based Meal Services Often Have High-Quality Ingredients

One of the biggest benefits of a plant-based meal service is the quality ingredients they provide. It may sometimes be challenging to find the right produce or the quality and value we’re looking for at the local grocery store. And for those of us who live in a food desert, just forget it. Being healthy feels like an impossibly high mountain to climb when the only local store is a convenience store.

A plant-based service brings everything needed fr a healthy meal right to the front door, eliminating the strain of trying to get across town for those who don't live close to a store with great produce — and the ingredients are often fresh and of high-quality. Many are often organic, and a lot of them are also sustainably sourced.

Most Menus Offer Variety and Options

Some people worry that a plant-based meal service won’t give them enough options for dishes they enjoy. But that’s generally not the case. Most of these services offer a wide variety of meals, and some may also be tailored or adjusted to fit the individual, too. We may even be exposed to new ideas and flavors than we've previously known.

There are many more plant-based options than there used to be, so it’s not just all about salads. In many services, patrons can choose between hundreds of dishes without meat to suit both vegan and vegetarian tastes and many offer meals that have some meat to keep things meat-light without sacrificing the flavor. Anymore, a family that has people with different eating habits should be able to accommodate everyone if they choose their service with that in mind.

Convenience and Availability

Delivery of plant-based meal services is available throughout nearly all of the United States. That means someone who wants this type of service can probably get it, no matter where they are.

Of course, financing this convenience matters, too, but there are options for the mid-range budget. By supplementing meals just a couple of days per week, these services become much more affordable for middle-income families. Nutritionally speaking these options can be much healthier than going out to eat. And financially they're pretty comparable to going out.

Balanced Nutrition for Better Health

Among the most important selling points for a plant-based meal service is the nutritional value. These services provide well-balanced meals that are packed with nutrients to provide better health.

Learning a new way of preparing meals can be challenging. If you've ever wanted to have someone just come over and show you how to do it, well, meal service can be a less-expensive way to do that. We're not only exposed to new flavors but to new combinations and techniques, sometimes. The meal service can kind of act as a plant-based food coach if we take the time to consider every meal, make a few notes, and gear our minds toward learning as we go.

A plant-based meal service might not be for everyone, but there are many benefits to giving one a try — not the least of which is removing one of our excuses to munch on unhealthy choices. They're pretty easy to try and most services may be canceled or paused at any time. That stops people from being locked into the service for a long time if they decide it’s not for them. Some even have a trial period to let you sample a few meals inexpensively while you decide if it's going to work for you. But with the quality ingredients, balanced nutrition, convenience, education, and variety these meal services offer, they may be worth trying — if you aren't already.
