This is a very very good hospital! Everyone that took care of me was so caring. Nurses Nick and Blondell were the best along with radiology techs Laura and Heather. They were all so compassionate and understanding of my pain and went to any lengths they could to make sure I was comfortable. Nick comes to check on me every shift even if I am not his patient. Laura and Heather took extra care with me and padded the CT table so I would be comfortable. When I got here I was in so much pain I was not participating in my therapy the way I needed to. The therapy team never had a harsh word for me even though I’m sure they got frustrated with me. They took their time and encouraged me to do what I could with just the right amount of “pressure” to do more. Now I am able to stand at the side of my bed for small periods of time. The wound care team has worked wonders on my wound! Guy Nelson and Dr. Armstrong have been thorough and taken great care If me. Prior to this I had been on hospice care. Now I am discharging to a nursing facility to continue my recovery and healing. Thank you !

I am leaving here to be discharged home today and have to say that Kindred Clear Lake helped cure me medically but they have also inspired me to make some changes and start LIVING my life again! They have worked with me and educated me on so many things…given me the knowledge and tools that I can use when I go home. The food here has been AMAZING and I learned a lot about portion sizes and pacing myself when I eat.
Everyone here has been so KIND and so HELPFUL and GENUINE! I came here physically sick but also very discouraged about my situation…. The compassion and care that has been shown to me by this staff has reinvigorated me to start living again! I have cried hundreds of tears of happiness and pure gratitude from being at this hospital. I wish I could stay longer but it’s time for me to go home and I feel that I am ready all thanks to the staff here at Kindred Clear Lake.

When I got to Kindred Clear Lake I was on my death bed. When I left I was walking using a walker! I was on the feeding tube when I first got here but now I am eating regular food and able to feed myself. I can’t wait to finish my rehab and I can’t wait to get home to my family! Thank you Kindred Clear Lake!!

I was admitted to Kindred Clear Lake with COVID Pneumonia. I was the ICU for a long time and was very confused and scared so I would pull my breathing tube. I did this multiple times until a very astute nurse realized I could not reach my call light. She put it right next to my hand and just knowing I had that lifeline calmed me down. Even though I pulled my breathing tube more than once no one ever got angry with me or made me feel bad. The would calmly explain to me why I couldn’t do that and promised to check on me frequently. That was comforting. There was one nurse who would whistle all day every day when she walked up and down the hall outside of my room. That sound was so comforting and so “normal” that it gave me hope that I would be ok! Therapy started working with me and even though I was initially scared to stand up after being in bed for so long, they encouraged me and made me feel safe. Eventually I was able to stand on my own two feet and it felt amazing!
Thank you to all of the caregivers and staff at Kindred Clear Lake! You saved my life and I will never forget you!

The staff here are fantastic! I have enjoyed my stay here so much and don't want to leave! Can't say enough about the great care I received! The food was delicious! Therapy was fun and boy do they motivate you to get up and get moving!! The nurses were always so gentle with me and very careful not to hurt me when removing my stitches. Would I recommend this hospital?......ABSOLUTELY!!!

I am an RN who unfortunately contracted COVID-19. I was initially admitted to UTMB Clear Lake but was transferred to Kindred Clear Lake for continued treatment and physical therapy. Upon arrival I was admitted into the COVID unit. I had never been ill with a respiratory illness before and would often PANIC because I could not breathe! My first nurse Vella was sent to me by God! She would stay by my bedside and show me tricks and techniques for slowing my breathing and calming myself down. She was so soothing and reassuring and was always telling me that I WAS going to get better and I COULD get through this! Vella is SUCH an asset to Kindred and I hope they all know how valuable she is! Without her I don't know how I would have gotten through those first few days.
Roderick was my primary care NP. He came to see me on my first day and said "how are you?" I said, "well, I'm good but not doing much" He said, "I'm about to change that!!" From that moment on it was a whirlwind of PT, OT rehab rehab rehab!! It's like he lit a fire underneath everyone on the therapy team and they GOT ON IT!! I felt like I became their project and they were all committed to getting an A on that project! When I was transferred up to the med/surg unit my first day I was laying in bed and heard someone singing and laughing down the hallway and I knew I was in the right place. Everyone who works here is SO HAPPY! The nurses and CNA's were all so incredibly sweet. Always attentive. Always kind. Always caring. Respiratory therapy has some extremely knowledgeable people on their team! They all knew so much about COVID and how it affects your lungs. They were continually telling me what I could expect as I recovered and alway took the time to answer all of my many questions.
The FOOD WAS AMAZING!! My phone is full of pictures of all of my meals. I was never hungry and frequently offered snacks. Before I got sick and came to Kindred food was just kind of something I HAD to do but after being here and eating all of the amazing meals I am all of the sudden extremely interested in food and food prep! I have even started watching cooking shows to try and learn how to prepare a meal as delicious as the ones I have had here!
My case manager Jamie was so helpful and so genuine and I could tell she really cared about my needs.
Paul with OT kept me laughing (which also helped my lungs!)
Glessing was attentive and so cute and observant. Even if she didn't look like she was watching me I know she always had an eye on me during therapy!
Kindred Clear Lake embodies what TEAMWORK should be!!! Great hospital, great staff!! HIGHLY recommend!!!

I came to Kindred Clear Lake for follow up care after I had COVID-19. My doctor, Dr. Gupta was good! She listened to me and was willing to let me fully participate in my care plan. My case manager Maria was very helpful and kept me informed about all of the insurance processes. Jo and Larry with physical therapy were awesome. They were so encouraging and worked with me to build up endurance and strength. On the days that I felt like I was too tired they were very understanding and didn't force me to do anything I didn't have the strength to do. I am a very religious woman and spent a lot of time talking to the staff about my faith and my belief in God. No one ever made me feel like they didn't want to hear it and very politely listened to me. I am also an older, modest woman so I feel more comfortable in being cleaned and bathed by another woman. Every time I had a male nurse or tech and requested a female attend to me they never got offended and very quickly would go find someone who could help me. Overall my nurses were all excellent.
I am SO EXICTED that I get to go home and I know I owe so much to the staff and caregivers at Kindred Clear Lake.
