Being a person who reads EVERYTHING I can get my hands on before choosing a doctor, please know that I do not take writing this review lightly.
When I went for my first colonoscopy, I NEVER in a million years thought that I would hear the word “cancer” when I woke up. My world was turned upside down…what do I do next??? After the doctor who did my colonoscopy, made his recommendations, all of which were “okay”, I did my homework. When you continually see FIVE stars after a doctor’s name, you dig in!!
I read hundreds of reviews that stated things like this:

I bookmarked his name on my computer to show my husband, who was also researching colorectal specialist for me. I was feeling this was the doctor for me and he agreed.
At the same time, my best friend told me her nephew had a colorectal doctor who was the BEST & asked me to talk to him before I made any decisions on what doctor I would go to. I did, and I must tell you I was NOT surprised when he told me his doctor was Dr. David Rivadeneira.
I went to my first appointment with Dr. Rivadeneira on July 11, 2018. He explained everything to me in great detail, right down to the diagram of what needed to be done for me to be healthy again. He explained where the tumor was, what needed to be done, the actual procedure of the operation, risks, benefits, what I could expect in the hospital & what I could expect with my recuperation. I had so many questions & he assured me there were no question too silly to ask. I was worried about needing a colostomy bag, which he assured me I wouldn’t. He even suggested I get another opinion if I wanted to. What made my decision final was when he told me “this is what I do”. I left there knowing that this definitely the doctor I would be using.
I had my surgery on July 19, 2018. My entire experience was exactly what he told me I could expect. His team of doctors that also visited me in the hospital were just as exceptional as him. His office staff is very courteous, kind & helpful. They were all very pleasant & offered any assistance I might need. I was blessed to have Shawnee as my PA when I went home. She stayed in constant contact with me to see how I was progressing. She also answered all of my crazy questions & concerns.

I suffered with severe prolapsed hemorrhoids for years before seeing Dr. Rivadeneira. At first we tried banding, and when that didn't work he recommended surgery. I read so many horror stories online, but it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, and I had a severe case. Throughout Dr. Rivadeneira and his staff were very supportive. I am now fully healthy and recovered, the surgery was 100% successful and I feel better than I have in years and have my quality of life back.

Dr. Rivadeneira is an amazing surgeon. From the first consultation for my mom to the last, it was an excellent journey. He is a very caring doctor and took all the time we needed to make the decision for the colon resection. I highly recommend Dr. Rivadeneira :)

Dr. David Rivadeneira is a great surgeon he took the time to explain my diagnosis of Complicated Sigmoid Diverticulitis with Perforation and the surgery needed to repair it so I would not need a colostomy bag . He put my mind at ease with his bedside manner and ability. The surgery went great at Huntington Hospital. THANK YOU

Compassionate, extremely knowledgeable. Would like to ad saved my life during an extreme emergency. Came in for emergency surgery right from his pool & did a fantastic job. Explained everything to my family & we can only say he is a wonderful doctor & human being.!

Dr. Rivadeneira made the experience of having hemorrhoidectomy surgery very comfortable both prior to and post surgery. His kind and knowledgeable demeanor makes it easy to understand exactly what to expect at each stage of treatment and recovery. Wonderful bedside manner. His staff is equally excellent.

Being in the medical field, I know there can sometimes be disparity relative to physicians skill levels. I researched Dr. Rivadeneira and found him to be the best physician to treat my fissure. He was very patient, took the necessary time to answer my questions, is compassionate and has great bedside manner. Rather than sending me into a potential unnecessary surgery, he recommended pharmacological therapy as my initial course of action. None the less I ended up electing to have surgery. I would recommend Dr. Rivadeneira without hesitation.

On December 2, 2017 my 83 year old father underwent a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy performed by Dr. Rivadeneira for a very large tumor in his colon. Prior to surgery we met with Dr. R. and had conversation about what to expect during Dad's hospital stay and regarding the post op period. Dr. R. explained very thoroughly what to expect and answered all our questions in specific clear detail. My father is 8 weeks post op now. He is healing well, cooking breakfast, gets out to dinner, goes up and down stairs, visits his grandchildren and will be celebrating his 84th birthday this month. We can not thank Dr. Rivadeneira enough for all his surgical expertise, care and concern.

Dr. Rivadeneira gave me my life back! After having hernia surgery performed by another surgeon in August of 2017, within a few days the hernia was back. And it was four times the size it was originally. I was miserable and in constant pain. I was referred to Dr. Rivadeneira, as he is an expert in this procedure, for laparoscopic repair of a recurrent hernia. I could not be happier with the results! Having been so nervous about getting the procedure done again, considering what happened the first time, I was less than confident I would be “fixed” when all was said and done. But now, 4 weeks after the procedure, I am back to my old self and can even begin to return to work. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I cannot recommend this surgeon highly enough! Totally restored my quality of life, and my confidence in surgeons. Dr. Rivadeneira, you are amazing!

Dr. Rivadeneira is great. His explanation of what i needed was thorough. he recommended that i get a second opinion, which I did. That doctor confirmed everything that Dr Rivadeneira said. Also, the second opinion doctor said that if i were his patient, that he would refer me to Dr. Rivadeneira. Because " he is the guru for this type of procedure ."
