Yesterday, Dr. Rivadeneira and I said "Farewell" after what seems like a long relationship from Fall 2020 to June 2021. When no one in upstate NY would take my case (due to it's complexity) I sought treatment at NYU, but wasn't 100% happy with the Dr. I met there. I have a childhood friend who works for Northwell Health and he began asking other doctors in the network, "Who would you go to if you had to fix a rectovaginal fistula?" He kept getting the same answer, "Dr. R" So I drove 3 hours, back and forth to receive the most outstanding care from Dr. R and his team. My fistula was at a very rare spot; at sphincter muscle and no one wanted to cut into sphincter. Obviously, if cut wrong, loss of control can happen and God forbid a colostomy bag to follow. So Dr R made a safe decision to first insert a seton drain (which I lived with from December to March 1st) The idea was to strengthen the tissue so that it would be in better shape for cutting a flap and finally fixing the fistula. This surgery, given the sensitive area, is incredibly hard to recover from just due to always using that area/muscle daily. The success rate isn't the highest, but I am one of the success stories. I believe Dr. R taking the time to try the seton drain first made all the difference. He has the best bed side manner. He is kind and attentive and makes a difficult, embarrassing process, more comfortable for his patients. I can't say enough about Northwell Health. They are like a well oiled machine. My stay at Huntington Hospital was top notch; likened to a nice hotel stay. I cried yesterday when he stated that I was healed. This issue has been ongoing and uncomfortable for over a year. He gave me my life back! No more chronic pain. No more discomfort, depends, donut pillows to sit on, or stand up desk at work! I can't say thank you enough!
Dr. David Rivadeneira, operated on me on October 29 2020. He treated me in a very professional manner, before and after the surgery. He also explained to me what the surgery would entail and what to do during the recovery period. The whole process came through without any glitches. It’s not even one month since the procedure and today I feel as if the surgery happened months ago! I would definitely recommend Dr. David Rivadeneira to anyone who is looking for someone who specializes in this type of surgery.
I was living with hemorrhoids for over 10 years because I didn't want to go through the painful process of getting them removed surgically. I finally had to do something because of excessive bleeding and Dr Rivadeneira came highly recommended by close friends and relatives in the medical field. He was very attentive to my concerns and explained to me the option of rubber band litigation rather than surgery. He went over the pros and cons of each. I elected to go with the rubber band litigation and just as he had described, the procedure and the after effects were virtually painless. Some slight pressure for about 24 hours was the extent of what I felt. There were no restrictions on diet or activities. After 3 visits I am hemorrhoid free. I would recommend Dr Rivadeneira to anyone.

I’m 39 years old, I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 2019 ,I was shocked like everybody around me because I was young for this type of cancer. I contact with oncology Dr and he told me about Dr Rivadeneira. I saw Dr Riva before the surgery he explain everthing about my condition about surgery. I was relieved with his confidence I knew he was the right Doctor. We rushed to the surgery in 3 days he did excellent excellent job, I did not even feel I had major surgery. I had Colon resection surgery and he removed part of my colon with 4.5 cm tumor.
I feel so lucky to have Dr. Rivadeneira and his Team. What a great Human Being, He is my Hero. He he made me believe everything is going to be okay. Today I’m feeling like million bucks. Thanks to Dr Rivadeneira and His Dedicated Team.
Please do not pass your annual exam with your GI doctor so you don’t have bad surprises like me, I did not think it was necessary I was thinking I was young, no I clearly see I was wrong.
Dr. "Riva" is amazing! Firstly, he made me feel so at ease in his office. I had rectal bleeding so I finally decided to see a doc. Dr. Riva took a look and said that I had internal hemorrhoids that were causing the problem. He said that he could correct the problem with a rubber band, that would be placed at the base of the hemorrhoid. This would choke the hemorrhoid, shrink it, and it would fall off in a few weeks. It was painless, and it worked perfectly. No blood since. I feel so much better
Dr. Rivadeneira was recommended to me by my Primary care doctor for a second opinion. I needed a sigmoid colon resection due to a complicated diverticulitis episode. He made me feel so confident and explained the procedure so thoroughly that I decided to have him perform the surgery. The surgery went well. The recovery time was just as explained to me and I was kept comfortable during my hospital stay. I was able to be up and about not long after surgery.
Dr. Rivadeneira saved my life! Had my colon and rectum removed and I felt comfortable and positive throughout the entire time leading up to and after surgeries. When I went in for my consultation, he explained the entire procedure to me and was extremely sincere, compassionate and PATIENT. He did two surgeries on me, with no complications. Very professional, intelligent and very handsome too lol. Dr. Rivadeneira explained my recovery clearly and again was very patient. Great surgeon! His staff is also very compassionate and patient. My calls were returned right away after office hours and office visits were always easy with no long wait, caring front desk and nurses, and Dr. Rivadeneira was again patient, never rushing, and compassionate.
I first went to Dr. Rivadeneira for my colonoscopy. That procedure couldn’t have been easier. I have also been suffering from hemorrhoids and fissures. After numerous bandings, Dr. Rivadeneira encouraged me to have laser surgery. I was very uncomfortable with the idea and prolonged it for quite some time. I finally had the procedure in August and I don’t know why I waited so long. It was the best decision I made. TL, Smithtown
Dr. Rivadeneira performed a procedure on me called Rubber Band Ligation to eliminate internal hemorrhoids. My treatment took several visits (about 6) over the course of 8 months or so. Dr. Rivadeneira has a great manor, is pleasant and polite and always describes the procedure and expectations at every visit. The application of the rubber bands is uncomfortable, but not painful. I had no painful side effects after each procedure and went right back to my active lifestyle (gym, hiking, yoga) with no interruption.
