New government figures are reporting that about half of adults in the US are taking vitamins and supplements. In fact, there's been a sharp increase in the number of older women taking calcium. It's important to remember not to go overboard with supplemental intake- and remember that vitamins shouldn't be replacing proper nutritional regimes. Don't forget that there are lots of enriched foods such as leafy green vegetables that shouldn't be eliminated from your diet in favor of supplements!
That being said, supplements are fantastic additions to a balanced diet and should be specific to each individual's needs.
