45 Ways Soda Pop Can Hurt You Comments

It's a shame that I was never really warned of the dangers of drinking a lot of soda. One more thing you can ad to the list is cartilage erosion, which is what I had to learn the hard way. I drove a semi for a living and it started with a 12oz mountain dew and then it went to 16oz and then a 24oz. Next thing I know my foot was in intense pain and found out 6 months later that I had RSD (reflexive sympathetic dystrophy) which I totally blame on all the soda I drank. I got off lucky.

Great informative article!

Have a question for you....

I don't drink sodas or flavored waters....but I do drink "carbonated water".
No other ingredients other than water & carbonation. I get dry/cotton mouth from medications and find this helps better than anything.

Is it the carbonation that raises the acidity? I'm not clear as to exactly just what
carbonation alone does-- without all the other chemicals, flavors & ingredients.
Could/would you please clarify?

Thank you.

I knew about some of this! I also heard or read that drinking from aluminum cans has been linked to Alzheimer's. Do you know anything about this?
Anyway, I already have given up soda pop, but still need to give up drinks with the high fructose corn syrup!
Thank you for your article!
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Patrick Swayze?

I had started drinking nothing but a very good water--EXCEPT for drinking Sprite when going to a restaurant (1-3 times weekly). After reading this article, I am going to stop the Sprite and not drink when going to restaurant, as you aren't supposed to drink while eating a meal anyway, and I have tried it and know I CAN do it. This article is EXCELLENT. Thanks very much for writing and sharing this! GREAT info!

I wanted to add that numbers 27 & 28 ("coma" and "shock") may apply not so much for people consuming foods containing sulfur dioxide but, rather, for people who work in industries using this very popular preservative--except may be for someone highly allergic to this stuff. I felt that this still applied since, if we gave up soda, the people making this stuff would not be exposed to this very toxic substance. Sulfur dioxide has been around for a long time, especially in the wine industry; also, it may be as close to "natural" as we can get these days. Still, it poses dangers, especially to people with respiratory illnesses & with allergies to sulfates. The EPA lists this gas as a toxic substance--in whatever amount, I would prefer to not have it introduced to anything I drink, especially in combination with other even more toxic substances. There are healthier alternatives for us & for beverage makers!
