The fact that, in spite of all the passionate rhetoric in defense of vaccines, too many children (thousands, in fact) are succumbing to too many complications/side-effects the sources for which remain undiscovered or unexplained. Why is it wrong for parents to exercise caution until such sources are better explored/identified? The blatant use of bad science, even if some people think in order to do some good. Look, if you believe in vaccines, good for you but if other people have questions and concerns, who are you to belittle those concerns, especially when you can't with 100% certainty say that their concerns are illegitimate or inaccurate. Bad science is bad science, no matter who employs it or for what reason. To the mainstream media I would say: stop telling people that unvaccinated kids will revive old epidemics or put vaccinated kids in danger! This is not only a puerile tactic to inflict fear (reminiscent of witchcraft trials in the past) on the masses but, more importantly, it's bad science! The fact that there is good science to back up the many concerns/questions of the so-called anti-vaccine movement. Those who question that need to read What Your Doctor may Not Tell You about Children's Vaccines by Dr. Stephanie Cave. Other sources will also be provided below. The possibility that vaccines may be used (or are being used) for purposes other than they what they were originally intended for; they may also be so radically different than in the past as to possibly have effects not anticipated or yet identified. It's scary enough when someone like Bill Gates uses the word "vaccine" in the same sentence that talks about population control (i.e., the idea that the earth may need to be depopulated in order to save it from over-population)--it's even scarier to consider that maybe the profits being derived from vaccines outweighs the problems that may be attributed to them. Canned aerosols, for example, led to many useful products but, when it was learned that the technology was also leading to damage of the ozone layer, the technology had to be re-shaped or, in some cases, abandoned. Who knows what secret agendas vaccines may be used for in the future? Who is to say that the technology does not need to be revamped, improved or altered? Have the many preservatives/chemicals that have been added to vaccines in the past 30 years significantly changed something that was hitherto safe(r)? Some people speak of vaccines as if they have remained the same since they were invented. That is simply not the case. It is possible that some of the changes we have introduced in the past few decades (including the introduction of totally new vaccines) have in fact made vaccines more dangerous than we realize or are willing to admit; at the very least, this is something we need to keep an open mind about.Conclusion
The fact is that some people supposedly on the side of vaccines are fueling the flames when it comes to the vaccine/autism national debate. Why do they continue to do that? is it from ignorance, because of sheer presumptuous arrogance, or is it because of some other more sinister motive/explanation?
First of all, it's not the end of the world if some people choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children. Historically speaking, we have never had 100% compliance in regards to vaccines. Nor is there any scientific need for such. Smallpox was eradicated in spite of the fact that not everyone in the world was vaccinated against it--nor is it likely that this took place even in places where the disease was most prevalent, i.e., it's very unlikely that everyone in those areas was vaccinated.
Furthermore, we need to let science, not profits, political expediency, fear-mongering, or any such considerations dictate our actions, especially in a supposedly free democratic republic. Science calls for investigations, not suppression of information. If the anti-vaccine groups are wrong, let's prove them wrong in the scientific arena--and not just with studies paid for by the people profiting from vaccines. In the end, the truth will persevere--but not with subterfuge, by force or because the majority must have its way.
