Enjoyed the communication. However, I would have appreciated a reminder on the medication at the visit. I thought it was prescribe in office, not in the facility. I forgot to ask about it and left the office without pre/post op medication. Additionally, Sutter health called the night before surgery to confirm. They also mentioned that both parents needed to be present at the time of physical check-in to sign the consent. This could have been catastrophic, given the fact that we are traveling from out of town. Initially, my husband was not planning to travel with us for this procedure. My question is how did this detail get missed and not passed on to us, and what would have been the second option if my husband was not present in town to sign that consent form.

The doctors were amazing however, there was so much lacking in what was required of me in regards to specific requests and a lot of miscommunication about specific medical requirements requested by this office I.E. telling me I need an allergist and cardiologist clearance when what was really needed was an alpha gal test and an EKG - because of this lack of communication, I almost got my surgery postponed. I do also wish they did not practice at Sutter Health as Sutter Health has ALWAYS been homophobic / transphobic towards me and on the day of surgery Admission kept calling me Sir the whole time.

Make sure to ask before touching patients! Other than that was great and made me feel comfortable.

Debbie was great super personable and connected, and I can tell she both has a lot of attention to medical detail as well as thoughtful relating to me as a patient. She made it very clear that the surgery team would work to support my aesthetic outcome wishes, whatever they were. She made me feel comfortable and helped walk me through some of the process, it was really nice to meet her. She did misgender me the whole time, which strangely did not bother me, because I am coming to her for a good surgery and she made me feel confident that I would receive that. But given you work with lots of trans people, I thought I would mention it ,)

I would give my doctor a 10/10. However working with the office staff has been extremely frustrating. I have had BA surgery and am planning on having three further surgeries this year (body contouring, FFS, bottom). I was planning on having body contouring done in October but there apparently was an issue with the insurance company being able to conduct a peer-to-peer review in time, which resulted in a denial of preapproval. When I asked both the office staff and insurance company why they could not figure out a way to connect in the 6-8 weeks between the denial and the procedure I was given different answers on why the denial took place and why an appeal would not be able to work in time. Since that time I have done my best to be a squeaky wheel with the office staff--requesting information on preapproval timelines, following up multiple times on questions regarding preapproval and scheduling, etc. I am sure I am coming across as a bit of a Karen but the reality is that I have ADHD and struggle with executive functioning, so unless I am hyperfocused on getting an answer I will completely ignore it. No one person seems like they can give me an answer on scheduling, insurance preapproval and billing so there is no one that seems to be able to answer the question of whether I will be able to schedule all three surgeries during calendar year 2025. No one seems to be able to give me a straight answer on when I can expect a confirmation on preapproval. It very well could be my ADHD is impacting my memory but there have been lots of unanswered questions asked in email and lots of unreturned phone calls. Consultation and follow up appointments get moved multiple times (the record is 4 times so far) which is difficult to plan around. Ideally I could find one person who would understand the totality of my situation (which I have expressed in email) and act as my advocate within your office and, if needed, communicate to me exactly what/when I need to reach out and push on the insurance company, maybe even level set expectations if I am asking for or expecting too much from the office/doctor/insurance. As is, I feel like I am flailing around a bit, grasping at straws and convinced something is going to fall through the cracks again. All of this I am willing to work though because I like Dr. Pang and his work so much. But if I cannot get these remaining surgeries done in calendar year 2025 I am likely going to need to go somewhere else, which would be a real bummer.

This was a phone consultation, and I did not receive a call until ~20 minutes after the appointment time. This delay was not ideal, but otherwise there were no issues.
