“Compassionate” is not the word to describe this place. Judy Funk is arrogant and cold and treated us like crap.

I brought my dog in because we were having issues with his eyes and leg. He is around 15 years old (he’s a rescue so we’re not 100% sure of his age) with slow-moving cancer and arthritis. Upon greeting Judy, my mother said “hi, Judy!” because she had brought our childhood dogs in to see her for years. She was simply excited to see the woman. Judy responded with, “I didn’t go to school for years to be disrespected, it’s Dr. Judy.”

Okay…. “Doctor” judy….

We got down to business looking at doggo’s leg. She decided he had an ACL tear that never healed (even though the x-ray images we paid for were unreadable by our normal vet and I now have to pay for another round of them). I’m not sure how she came to this conclusion, as our regular vet stated “An ACL tear is possible, but there is no way to know for sure without an MRI.” Also, at no time in the 10 years that I’ve had him has he sustained any leg injuries, so I have zero clue when it would have happened unless it was before I adopted him. She straight up said to us “If this was my dog, I’d be in tears. I may call the ASPCA.”

To reiterate: I went in for help because our primary vet was full. Instead of providing help, she threatened to call the ASPCA on me. To do what, exactly? She had seen him two weeks prior for the initial appointment for his eyes and he was walking in what his version of normal is (for a 15 year old dog with cancer and arthritis). She didn’t threaten then, so what changed, Judy? How are you going to write in his discharge notes that he is a “very healthy dog” and simultaneously threaten me?

We also asked if he was her dog, would she put him through surgery or go the pain management route? I always ask my vets what they’d do, because at his age, I’m unsure if putting him through a serious surgery would be beneficial for him. She responded with “Oh, no, I’m not playing that game.” What game!? I was genuinely curious about options, not trying to be combative in any way.

The arrogance and disrespect coming from Judy was out of this world. If your pet is in need of help, I’d recommend anywhere but here. Judy is demeaning and will make you feel like a terrible pet parent. I waited to post any of this until I could get him back into his primary vet and a separate specialist just to make sure I wasn’t actually doing something terrible. Turns out, I’m not. In her discharge notes, Judy even wrote that he is “otherwise a very healthy dog.” Not sure how she has the audacity to write that after threatening to report me, but there you have it. The bedside manner of an old, crotchety, funk.

Dr. Judith Funk is unprofessional, in my opinion. We have serviced two cats and three dogs with this clinic. Many times we saw Dr. Erickson, whom seemed more compassionate about the animals and their families versus making a quick buck. I had received a letter from Dr. Funk discontinuing our services after what appears to be misinformation on her end. We originally contacted the clinic to talk about quality of life for my 14 year old dog who had an awful smell coming from him. We were told that we could talk to the Vet prior to making a decision to lay him down, and that if labs were conducted there would be a charge. When we arrived, Dr. Funk rubbed my dog, told me that he had lost his muscles in his back legs, which we have already known, and that he was very much in pain. She spent a total of 3-5 minutes with us during discussion of quality of life and became a bit agitated when we said we could not afford her option of keeping our dog comfortable and being told by her assistant the cost per month to do so. She questioned why I had questioned her clinic, over $25? Very unprofessional, but I guess that’s why we asked for the other doctor before because Dr. Funk truly has no compassion for animals, nor their famili It’s all about making a dollar. Discharging two clients of the clinic over her staffs misreprentation and $25, that she would’ve asked about if she were the one being told something different.

We have wentf to compassionate care for years. We took are shy dog to see vet Judy. Shecame in the exam room with a muzzle . She said this has to be put on and she got bite to many times by dogs. If her policy has changed she should send out a notice so you don't go in and have any idea what is going to happen , Our dog is like our children.I can understand her fellings but how she put it across and not letting you know not Copassate at all

Horrible! Dr Judi is neither compassionate nor caring. I would not refer anyone here...not even my worst enemy....Yep she is that bad. How sad for her to ruin the Funk veterinarian good name.

Do not take your pet to Judith Funk. She is the worst vet ever. She is rude and nasty to her staff. Most over she will treat your pet with no compassion. She was terrified to even work with my dog, (who is very well trained). She ordered a muzzle be placed on him. That's her easy way of doing an examination is grabbing a muzzle. Too bad there's not a muzzle for her when she starts talking rude and nasty to her staff :-)
