My hubby, william campbell saw the doctor when he was in his forty's, we had just moved to Rome, NY, my children were school age and I was just starting my career as a nurse. His sense of humour in a very difficult time helped us to get by. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor, thankfully the tumor was rare and after figuring out his Dilantin level, he went on to run 2 more healthdepts, in ct. we now live half the year in brimfield, ma and Dunedin, fl. I ran into someone yesterday that new the doctor and said he retired. I hope he is happy with his retirement years. a great doctor, I hope he is still on staff teaching. god bless you, naomi camlpbell

My daughter was 5 when she saw Dr. Winfield. She had progressive scoliosis and a syrinx in her spinal cord. She had seen one neurosurgeon before that didn't give us the time of day - only looked at her MRI and said the syrinx was inoperable and said he didn't fix scoliosis. Dr. W looked at HER - not just the MRI - and said all of her symptoms indicated a tethered cord even though you couldn't see it on her MRI. We opted for surgery and her S curve in the 30s degrees on both curves immediately became a single curve of 16 degrees. His intuition saved her from a wheelchair and possibly saved her life.

Saw my newborn son years ago and misdiagnosed a stroke as a terminal malignant brain tumor. This child was taken off life support to die as the tumor was diagnosed as untreatable. 5 mos later, the misdiagnosis was discovered, but we lost valuable time. He is now 19 1/2 years old and multiply disabled. He is speech impaired, orthopedically impaired, vision and hearing impaired and borderline MR. He will never be able to live alone or be gainfully employed. And his twin brother has lost such a one of a kind connection due to this tragedy. This man was horrible. I wouldn't take my dog to him. He never felt bad, never apologized, and never wanted to see my son again. Can't believe he still has a license to practice medicine.

I will definitely refer my friends and family here. They were great and I think more people should know about them. I love that they are always more than happy to answer my questions, and actually welcome questions. I've felt awkward at some other places I've visited when I've tried to ask a lot of questions, but not here. They make an extra effort to get to know their patients and find out what they need. They always remember me and make me feel very important.
