The patient records person did a no-no. When an insurance company was asking for a specific medical record o mine (ONLY)...the results of a pap smear, their written request was clear. The medical records person sent the insurance company my WHOLE medical record, which of course took the insurance company extra time and more questions to being approved for an insurance policy. (What happened to the HIPPA law because she NEVER had my permission or authorization to send the whole file to an insurance company for which we were trying to be approved; she only had my authorization for sending the results of the pap smear only). And then, the medical records person called us, telling us that she was about to send my husband's medical records to the insurance company, but she had a quick question about them. I kept telling her that the insurance company did NOT request any records on him, nor did we approve her sending any medical records on him. She didn't seem to understand any of this. I thought she was fairly incompetent, and medical records is not the place for incompetence. Also, I begin feeling like a number, another body, at this facility and that it had lost it's personal touch. I never got to see the doctor anymore and only the assistants. So, between the inept medical records person, feeling like a number and not a person, and never being able to see the doctor, I decided to move on to another doctor.
