Dr. James Free, DO is an inappropriate, incompetent, and unprofessional psychiatrist. The entire staff of Florida Behavioral Medicine in Largo, FL are abusive, condescending, and highly unintelligent, but the worst of all is Free's medical assistant, Sydney. I am confident she does not have a high school diploma as you'll be able to tell from her voicemail alone, which you will only ever reach when trying to contact the office. You're lucky though because speaking to her is just as effective as speaking to the wall. After 15 messages with the correct pharmacy address and phone number, she will still send your prescription across the state to another pharmacy and yell at you like she was raised on the streets if you object. The whole office is a ratchet group of mean-spirited mentally unwell individuals. After a few visits with Dr. Free, who lies to patients and then changes the care plan when they leave the office, I would never go back. He speaks badly about other patients and complains about them to other patients, which I witnessed first hand and felt bad for those that don't know not to trust this HIPPA-violating DO practitioner. He is rude, condescending, and incompetent, with staff who compete with him for rudest and most ignorant member of the office. That's when you actually get ahold of them. They turn off their office lines while in the office and joke around behind the counter, ensuring you are never able to get through, and when you do get through, they will automatically tell you to hold for at least an hour, without choice. Free won't be a physician for long, I'm confident, as complaints against him are long and numerous. Do a quick google search and you will see for yourself. Skip the whole office, but especially James Free, as they will make your mental health deteriorate and charge you for it.

When I told them about my situation, they were somewhat understanding, but they could have been more caring. They didn't try very hard to understand where I was coming from. I would recommend them to people I know if I couldn't think of anyone better to suggest. I was pretty surprised with how far away this business was from everything. It took me forever to get there and I kept getting lost. I had to wait forever after I arrived for my appointment. They were running really behind and I was disappointed because it threw off the rest of my day. My appointment felt a little rushed. I understand that they are busy, but I would have liked a little more time.
