Mongoose Bodyworks opened its doors in Soho in 1999. The owner, Halle Clarke, was a professional modern dancer at the time but knew that her future was in Pilates and bodywork. Halle had originally been introduced to Pilates when she was in the Dance Department at NYU. It is here that her fascination in detailed muscle coordination , idoekensiology, anatomy , neuromuscular re-patterning began. Although Pilates had long been the dancers panacea, now it was steadily moving into many populations. And the time to open a studio was ripe. Halle choose Soho as the location to open Mongoose Bodyworks . Soho had great open spaces with high ceilings, interesting people and convenient to many subways. The studio was an immediate success. Since the opening of Mongoose Bodyworks Halle had been continuing to learn and grow and infuse Pilates with evolved studies in bio-mechanics and energetic bodywork. She works closely with physical therapists and chiropractors as part of a clients path to wellness. She has taught nationally and internationally, is on faculty at Balance Body University and teaches Pilates Teacher Trainings in Soho, NYC and around the country. Halle also practices Polarity and Cranio-sacral Therapy.
Halle auditions all of her instructors, choosing only the ones whom demonstrate a high level of skill, intuition and knowledge not only of Pilates but of body mechanics and anatomy.
