My dad fell and broke his hip and was taken to St. Vincent in Birmingham. He had the worst patient care I have ever experienced. The doctor came by the morning after surgery and was never seen again. The second morning I entered his room to find him completely naked and covered in feces. His diaper and bloody bandage were under his right foot and the compression socks were also covered in feces. One sock was up by his pillow and feces was on his hands and pillow. I reported incident and he was cleaned up, but cold. I asked for a warming blanket and was told they keep those for patients with low body temperature. He is 96 years old and was freezing cold. I ask for the supervising nurse, she never came. Compression bands were never replaced on his legs to prevent blood clots. Only one nurse assessed him. The others just did a blood pressure and oxygen check. This was on the fifth floor of the hospital. I ask a nurse a question, and she without even looking up said, “he’s not my patient”. Horrible hospital. Cannot get coffee anywhere in the hospital after six o’clock. I ask in the Bistro about coffee and was told to go to McDonalds. Due to COVID certain tables were closed. I sat eating my lunch and observed three different people rotate to the same table. Never was that table cleaned between use. I entered the restroom near the Bistro and stepped in blood. It had been tracked everywhere. Horrible experience. Giving a one star is way above what this hospital deserves!
