About
Norma Torres, CMT
Lifestyles demand much of our time. There is a powerful and deep need to stop, consider, and rediscover our natural balance.
My philosophy is to combine the best of ancient and modern therapies with pure, high-quality ingredients. The result is an extraordinary combination of massage services and natural products that focus upon enhancing an individual in a way that is both nurturing and holistic. Above all, my commitment to you is treatments and products that support your healing.
Based on information you share I will recommend a bodywork session tailored to your needs. The session may include massage, assisted stretching, gentle twisting exercises, energy work and meditation. Taking into account muscles, fibers, blood flow, nerve flows, and the lymphatic system I will focus on your wellness, reading your body's tension one zone at a time. Acknowledging the changes you experience during your massage is my primary concern. This work creates a powerful release of stress and tension, an increase in vitality and well-being and deepens the connection between mind, body and spirit. By integrating a variety of practices I will help you understand how this approach is complete, balanced and deeply therapeutic. This work aims at stimulating the flow of healing energies within the body, opening the areas which are blocked and bringing the body, mind and spirit back into balance and harmony -- for health, happiness, and wellness of being.
A demanding IT career showed me first hand how stress impacts the immune system. I believe bodywork and integrative health therapies help maintain my own body’s vitality. In January 2007, a career change led me to complete a certification of 650 hours training in massage, family and spa services at the World School of Massage & Holistic Healing Arts in Pleasanton, CA. As an intern with a chiropractor and Sports Physician in Fremont, CA, I helped a number of clients incorporate massage in their lives on a regular basis. My massage practice also reaches out to Bay Area companies providing employees with a benefit of a 15 minute chair massage at their workplace. Sports, deep tissue and Hot Stone therapeutic massage are frequent requests of my clients. My life is enriched with joy when I am in nature. I study an energy work called Jôrei (Okada Purifying Therapy-OPT), which in Japanese signifies “purifying light”. I practice OPT, the Japanese Bontemae tea ceremony and the art of flower arrangement as a member of the first Zuisenkyô of the Mokichi Okada Association (MOA) in the Continental United States. It is a working 10 acre nature farm located in Fresno, CA www.moa-fresno.org. I continue to expand my bodywork and health therapy knowledge with the wisdom and guidance of great teachers and bring that to you in my massage practice at Tri-Valley Bodyworks.
