Most of the staff members are friendly and competent, however, it seems they are understaffed. If the number of staff is sufficient, then someone needs to crack the whip! I have witnessed numerous times one of the head nurses working above and beyond the call of duty and working far too many hours. I wish the other Nurses and CNA's had her compassion and desire to make a difference. When a resident pushes their call button, it's not unusual for it to take 10 or 15 minutes before a staff member checks on them. The smell of urine is completely overwhelming at times. It is the first thing you notice when you walk through the front door. I have mixed feelings about Nature Trail, as there is much room for improvement. No resident should have to lay in their urine soaked clothes and bedding for hours. They deserve to have some dignity. I sincerely hope that someone reading this will be able to do something positive about this situation.
I have visited numerous nursing homes to visit family and friends. NatureTrail is head an shoulders above most of the others. Several staff members were present and available --- busy dong their jobs, taking care of people. The residents seem happy. I feel very comfortable.
