They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. The office was easy enough to find. My mother has been a resident since January 2012 and so far, I am pleased with her care. Her room is bright and cheerful and very clean, as is the rest of the facility. She is always clean and dressed if she is up when I visit. She seems very fond of her caretakers so I feel they must treat her with respect. All in all, a nice facility.

My family member was mistreated by the staff who was assigned to provide care and meet safety measures. He was left outside unattended for over an hour in the heat of a July day despite the fact that his male CNA was aware of his left side paralysis that had resulted from a stroke.[ He did apologize and said he was sorry he had forgotten about him ]. Someone passing thru the courtyard had been kind enough to assist him back inside. A different male CNA put him to bed without changing him into lighter weight sleeping pajamas despite knowing that his roommate insisted on keeping the heat very high in their room. He complained to me when we were talking on the phone about how hot he was. I called back and spoke to the evening shift female CNA who was assigned to him. She checked him and found him soaking wet from perspiration. She cleaned him and changed him into his sleep clothes. Despite the fact that he could feed himself, he was always placed at the back table with other residents who had to be fed. The residents who were placed next to and across from him were mostly unable to carry on a conversation, were reaching across and taking food off of his tray, or cursing. I asked that he be placed at a more appropriate table with other alert residents. My request was not honored. The most annoying thing they did was place him in front of the kitchen door. Each time someone entered or exited this door, it would hit his wheelchair and startle him. He had nurses and CNA's tickle his feet despite the fact they had been asked not to do this. He felt disrespected , vulnerable and tormented. The final straw was when he told me that a female CNA was pouring ice cold water on his belly of the morning and stating "Now I know you are awake ". These incidents were reported but I am not sure if they were followed up because I removed him from Hillcrest West. The State was informed also.
