Let me start by saying 1 star is a star too many as far as I'm concerned. I went to Women's Care after receiving a wonderful referral from a friend. I am pregnant with my first child after years of trying and having IVF. I can’t begin to explain how many times I had to hear, “we’re so sorry for that mistake.” During my first visit after leaving my IVF clinic was for a sonogram and office visit with one of the 11 doctors in the practice. The sonogram was scheduled in week 11 instead of 12, so I had to go back the very next week and argue that I wasn’t paying for both due to their mistake. With no notice, the sonogram tech played baby’s heartbeat for 10 seconds. When I asked her to play it again, she said, “No. It’s our policy to only play it once.” Then, I met with Dr. Rice. She’s a very lovely doctor and I’m sure extremely competent. Of course, she had her agenda…ask questions, due a pelvic exam, etc. But I had questions of my own. After all, I was interviewing them to see if they were the right fit for me. She would not speak to me in her office and I wasn’t even permitted to get dressed, but had to ask my questions exposed, still in the gown. Everyone is different, but I find it difficult to clearly get all my thoughts out while still in a gown on the table with stir-ups! While asking my questions I was told, “How many more do you have, as I’m only booked 20 mins with each patient.” Again, as a first time Mom, I want a doctor who will take the time to answer my questions and not make me feel rushed. If I’m being rushed through an office visit now, what’s to say I won’t be rushed through my delivery? She could have offered us the ability to schedule a consult if she didn’t have time that day, but she didn’t.

I’m over the age of 35 and a high risk pregnancy, so it was recommended that I take a blood test at week 11 to look for chromosomal abnormalities in the baby. This test would also tell us baby’s gender early. I was told I would receive my results in 2 weeks and when I hadn’t heard anything by the end of my 14th week, I called. Turns out, they NEVER did it. They took my blood, but simply didn’t do the test. I’m not saying I would’ve aborted based on the results, but they took away my rights and my options by pushing it to an extra month. Not to mention, I have 60 people coming to my house for a gender reveal party, and NO gender results! All of these terrible things happened within a month of being a patient and there’s more I’m not even mentioning. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go to another practice! With 11 doctors in a group, you’re forced to see each one during visit and no one gets to know you and your baby. It feels like a revolving door and you deserve better. Their patient care is horrible and you’d be better going to the Women’s Group (only 5 docs) also on W Virginia or any other place for that matter. There are plenty of wonderful OB’s in this town, we don’t need to subject ourselves to such treatment during such a vulnerable time in our lives! I hope this review helps you and saves you from the heartache, pain, and frustration my husband and I have had to endure.
