Life is good in San Diego; the weather is beautiful and the Chargers are in the playoffs. Sorry to you New York Jets fans out there, but this Sunday will not be enjoyable for you.
I love the excitement throughout the city at this time of year when the local team is in contention in the playoffs. Along with the excitement come plenty of parties, all leading up to the grande finale that is the Super Bowl. And we all know what happens at parties…lots of eating and drinking.
Here are a couple of tips that my Health Coach gave me heading into this weekend and the Chargers victory party I will be attending.
1. Eat a small healthy snack before you go to the party. This will ensure that you are not starving and that you will not go hog-wild on all of the not-so-healthy items on the table.
2. Drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have. This is an old and well-known rule, but it serves a couple of purposes. First, it will help prevent an ill after effects of the alcohol. But it will also help to keep your stomach full, therefore keeping you from overeating the finger foods.
3. Definitely do not drink and drive. Either have a driver planned out or just don’t drink!
