Eating Healthy For The Road Warrior

Lets face it eating is a big part of our life. Yet sometimes it is an after thought until we realize we need to eat because our stomach is telling us too. That is not the right way to go about it.

Its best, especially when on the road to make a plan. Although it takes some time, make a plan the night before to get some health food together for the next day. Get yourself a cooler or a soft lunch cooler. The best thing to do is pack a healthy lunch using all sorts of combinations so that your body receives the nutrients it needs. The standard sandwich is a good start but let’s spice that sandwich up with a good selection of healthy meats and cheeses with nice mustard and a little mayo. Pack the lettuce and tomato in a separate bag so you can put it on your sandwich right before you eat it.

In addition, there are many healthy rice chips to choose from. Organic potato chips are also a great addition for food on the road.  Furthermore, fruit is good choice fresh or dried, and veggie’s like celery or red peppers with hummus are great. It is possible to eat healthy while on the road.

Now clearly packing a lunch is not always possible so let’s visit eating on the road if you must eat at fast food places.  There are some options that allow for more healthy eating on the road. For example, Carl’s Jr. has a chicken sandwich that is not fried and you can also order it without the bread. Also, Jack in the box has a chicken and rice bowl and most of the fast food places have salads to choose from too. So even if you are stuck, some form of healthy eating on the road is always an option.

Eating during the day is important, however it is also important that you begin your day making sure you are eating a good healthy breakfast before leaving home. This will get your metabolism going for the day. In addition,  packing a few healthy snacks so you are not going too long in-between meals if you get caught up working is important for your health. Good snacks on the road are nuts or trail mix.

Remember that when on the road, sitting in the car is tiring so make sure you drink plenty of water. Also, eating will keep your blood sugar level up for a more productive and alert day on the road and at work!
