The Road Warrior's Tool Kit

Traveling can be hard on anyone.  Being on the road throws off your day-to-day routine, puts you in unfamiliar sleeping situations, food intake is not what it usually is, and your regular workouts are affected.  All of these factors can cause major stress  to your system.  If you system is stressed  on the road, how are you going to show up fresh for that big meeting?

The following items are essential for the Road Warrior to take with them while traveling for business in order to ensure maximum comfort and health on the the road.

The number one most import action you can take to avoid stress and sickness while traveling is sleep.  If you have trouble sleeping on planes or on unfamiliar beds when traveling, you might want to consider Valerian Root.  Since the 16th century Valerian Root has traditionally been used as a natural treatment for varying conditions of nervousness. Because of its sedative qualities, Valerian Root is used today for sleeplessness.

It is typically taken in supplement form and can be found at your local health food store. Remember lack of sleep may cause sickness. However, since Valerian root won't leave you drowsy the next day you can take it on that overnight flight, and get some shut-eye before that important conference.

The next item in the Road Warriors’ tool kit  that is absolutely necessary to promote health and relieve physical stress while traveling is chamomile tea.  Chamomile tea has dual purposes for the Road Warrior.  If you find yourself prone to constipation during your traveling, chamomile tea just might do the trick. It is also a calming stress reliever and sleeping aid.

Grapefruit Seed Extract is another necessity for your traveling health kit. It is the ultimate in prevention from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.  We have all been told, don’t drink the water.  Have you also heard that your lettuce and fruits should be disinfected before eating them. What should you be disinfecting them with? The classic answer is chlorine. But who wants to ingest a chemical that is known to have side effects?

Grapefruit Seed extract is an extremely effective alternative to chlorine, with NO SIDE effects. It has been proven to be an antiseptic, germ-killing, anti fungal, and also is a universal remedy for gastrointestinal upsets.  This is a must for those traveling especially to destinations where sanitation is low and therefore the chance for stress on the body is high.

Next in your tool kit is Dr. Bronners Magic Soap. Dr. Bonner’s products are completely bio-degradable and vegetable based.  They are multi-purpose soaps that range from brushing your teeth to washing your clothes.  For the Road Warrior, peppermint is best when traveling.  Peppermint essential oil is a mild stimulant that increases vitality and clarity, which is helpful for long hours on the road.

Also, don’t forget lip balm for your healthy traveling.  Dr. Bronner also makes a wonderful lip balm that is 100% organic. The lip balm is based from beeswax and pure organic oils. Dr. Bronners uses avocado oil and beeswax to provide protection from the elements while jojoba and hemp oils are used for moisturization.  Only top quality and organic essential oils are used for fragrance.

Cracked lips essentially mean an open wound and just another opening to be infected by bacteria, so again lessen stress on your body and protect your lips while on the road.

Hand Sanitizer is another must while traveling, for running water will not always be on hand on the road. Popular brands are Burts Bees Aloe and Witch Hazel Hand Sanitizer. They eliminate up to 99.99% of germs. What is unique about these products is the use of corn-based alcohol that is most effective for germ-killing.  Aloe Vera is a natural softener and the Witch Hazel is soothing.

With the 6 essentials tools for the Road Warrior, your business trip is sure keep you stress free and healthy!
