Peaceful Warrior

A couple of evenings ago I was invited to a fundraiser for a young woman who is in the up side of her bought with leukemia. I was invited by one of the members of the band that was playing, for the second time, in her honor. While it was the first time I have had the chance to hear the band live (great music), I have known the drummer for a while. I was able to be of some service to him as he was going through his time with cancer a few years ago. We did a few distance healing sessions and I am happy that I was able to help.

I am even happier that the situation brought this man in to my life, for he is a being of pure love and joy. Not yet in his 30's, he has wisdom that comes from facing death and surviving, and the wisdom serves him well. He returns the energy by being very open about his cancer, and his healing process. The other night, right after the organizer of the fundraiser had made a little speech in which she said something about "kicking cancer's butt", my friend took the mic and said something that was both gentle and profound (so like him).

He stated his love and respect for the woman who spoke and then clearly stated why he did not love what she had said. He said that cancer is the last warning that the body gives that we need to change things in our lives, in our diet, our way of being in the world. The way to health is through changes. He stood there, two and a half years in remission, a testament to his own knowledge.

I have been doing some volunteer work with a cancer support group, and what I am hearing from people is that the medical community is not guiding patients to make any changes in their lives, but just to follow the prescribed course of chemo, radiation and pharmaceuticals and hope for the best.

Why aren't they sharing the copious amounts of information about dietary and lifestyle changes that have been so effective for so many over the years? Even the most simple change of removing all sugars from the diet can help greatly in the healing process. The scientific proof that cancer feeds on sugars has been known for years. There are so many simple changes that can be made that will have a positive impact on healing.

For those who do not have the challenges of cancer or poor health, we should not be complacent. We receive wake up calls every day to pay attention. Choose one thing to change every week, one step to take every day, to bring healing to ourselves and to the planet.
