My general MD referred me to Dr Proffitt visiting the Burlington Ks hospital outpatient clinic. When I made the appt.( 3.5 week wait) I asked how much the total cost including diagnostic and cryogenic treatment for a one time visit would be. I always pay cash - no insurance. I was considering the Topeka laser clinic and if the cost was more than $125 total for Dr Proffitt, I would prefer laser. I was assured that $125 would cover everything! The Burlington hospital wants another $60 and Johnson Co. Derm. wants another $144, four weeks later. When I checked out of the clinic, I again asked for the total/complete bill. They accepted my check of $125 and said it was complete, my mother was there to witness the transaction. I am planning legal action. In California, I paid $65 cash to see the dermatologist and this included most treatments. What is wrong with Ks? Obviously healthcare reform is needed here more than anywhere!
