Husband and I recently moved into the area and wanted to get our yearly checkup and choose MUSC. Boy were we disappointed in selecting this practice. The office did the routine checkup and lab work we have always gotten.
Two weeks after our visit we were surprised by a $260 bill for each of us. This visit was supposed to be a wellness visit covered 100% by insurance. Instead this office set this up as an establish care visit. They did not inform us ahead of time whether this type of visit would be covered under the yearly checkup. I assumed since we did nothing normal than the normal checkup, all would be covered. I called their billing office three times and contacted them via MyChart. The MyChart they informed was a fast way to get responses. No one responded for weeks. Finally got touch with someone who did a chart review for both the visits. I never heard back from the office on any of my questions. Ended up paying them a whopping $520 for our visits.
I'll never go back to them and would not recommend others to them. Poor patient care and service. There should be upfront conversation on what payments will be. The insurance info was provided prior to the visit. Patients should not be surprised with this important detail
