Dr. Donofrio has expert knowledge in particular areas but, like a beautiful person who knows it, he is preoccupied with his own expertise instead of his patients. He has helped many I've no doubt; I certainly spent many of my appointments listening to him recounting case after case that he solved where no other doctor could. However, beside being annoying his vast ego interferes terribly with treatment. I went to get help for a very difficult to treat neurological issue caused by a brain injury. His initial treatment did not work but I was never able to get him to branch out to anything else because he simply refused to believe that I wasn't getting any better. As I would show him my progress journal and recount my symptoms (with family members there to testify to absolutely no difference) he would just gloss over everything I said, telling me how I seemed in such good spirits and was looking better... I would point out that I had never been in bad spirits, etc, etc. but to no avail. Perhaps he could have helped me if he had just been willing to accept that so far he had not. I've seen specialists in several countries, more than 45 doctors in 15 years. Very few are without large egos, but Dr. Donofrio is in the top 5. Just a note: He had a young male intern working with him (this would have been around 2006 or so) that was extremely competent. I was always wishing that he had already finished school and training. Perhaps he has by now. I think his name was Mark. If he's finished he should have the knowledge of Dr. Donofrio minus the God-complex.
