This therapist is not willing to help blended families work through difficult times. This therapist is not well practiced in recognizing Parental Alienation, Hostile Parenting nor able to recognize the difference between "estrangement" and "alienation". It seems that this therapist is only willing to listen and work with one side of the family (completely excluding the other side). He also makes statements on record to court officials without merit of evidence. Even with a recommendation that conjoint therapy be introduced immediately (recommendation given 10 months ago), this therapist has not worked it into his healthcare practice of the sessions. The sessions have been going on for over a year now with no merging of family sessions. This therapist has been offered peer reviewed literature, and other information too, in hopes that this therapist might gain insight into where we feel the issues are arising from and this therapist is not willing to accept or pursue the possibility of it. It is saddening and disheartening to know that this therapist is not the help that we sought out for my child (we were the ones that sought out therapy, the other parent completely opposed psychotherapy, however we are now the ones that are excluded in all sessions. side note: I wanted a licensed and experienced psychologist while the mother preferred a less experienced and credited Social Worker), it seems this therapist has become part of the problem. I had hoped for help for my son, and still do, I pray this therapist can find the educational resources and seeks out the experience of better attuned colleagues to aid in his practice as he is not inept to take on such a challenge as our very complex dynamic. In the end, I am thankful that my son at the very least has a someone (a mandated reporter) to talk to should the true child abuse (emotional) that he has, and is enduring, on a daily basis finally be surfaced.
