We are summer residents at Chautauqua. Dr. Rice has seen us twice on very little notice. He treated us and our animals the way one would expect him to treat his most long time patients. His fees are fair and reasonable. He is a 5-star doctor!

An experienced no nonsense vet who provides excellent care. He has done very successful surgery on our 12year old golden doodle using the minimum of anesthetic. Dog was well and happy right after the procedure. Wish we had found him earlier!! Dog loves him! So do we!

Excellent vet. Had my old lab in once and he asked how old. I said I thought 7 years old. He said, "looks more like 12" I went home and looked up her records and he was right. 12 years old. He gave advice and was right on. Fixed problem.

I acquired a 1 1/2 yr. old Shihtzu from someone who originally had the dog vetted at Dr. Rice. The dog was 6 month past due on shots and not spayed. Since this vet. had a file on the dog, I got the dog current on shots and scheduled an appt. to be spayed 5 days later. THE DOG DIED ON THE TABLE!!!! I was shocked! He said she had a reaction to the anesthesia. No pre-surgery screening test were done, I don't know who or if someone else was monitoring the dog with Dr. Rice. Were IV fluids used? I don't know how long CPR was performed. This was my first time using this vet. I know things can happen. Now I'm left wondering if it was an error on the vets part. How many other people have lost seemingly health pets when they were taken in for a procedure at this vet. Are pet deaths reported to the AVMA? I just feel this should not have happened.
