I have been using the Harvey's Lake Veterinary Clinic for well over a decade. I have also been looking at reviews on this site and others. My wife and I have seven pets - a beagle named Bagel and six cats of various colors and personalities.

I have always been pleased with the clinic, run by Dr. John Bucha, DVM, and his wife Virginia, along with staff. The treatments are done with care, and I find the prices reasonable. They have also been very caring and professional during the time we lost two of our pets within the past three years.

Because of the success of the clinic, there sometimes is a small wait. I consider this a reasonable result of competition for their services. One other feature that we used a lot in the past was the boarding, very useful when we had an annual cruise and wanted to make sure at least some of our pets were in professional care.

Finally, I note that John and Virginia appear to actually love the animals, not just have a business. Although some people have written reviews and mistake John's less effusive personality in some negative ways, I find that he shows empathy, such as when our dog died Oct. 2020, or even more, when my wife and I were crying at loss of our cat earlier.

Don't mistake professionalism for not caring.

He is EXCEPTIONAL in the field!!!!! Can't thank them enuff for staying up to date and up to latest on everything for pet family. HONEST, trustworthy and very very kind. Dr Bucha, we love you! and we love Mrs Bucha too!!!! Travel over an hour for their care.

really can't say enough about the staff and facility, they are wonderful my dog loves the staff and care he gets while boarding and so do I.

Dr Bucha listened closely & gave his diagnosis or opinion as to the next step. His staff was helpful & efficient with instructions to the medication. He helped resolve our new shelter rescue cat girl which contracted cold & tapeworms. He also spayed her after she recovered from her cold. Currently she's healing & waiting for the removal of stitches. She's also back to her old young self playing & annoying the tolerant older cat boy.

Our older cat is walking better with the help of the medication he prescribed.

They take the time to listen to all of my input and concerns. They are very attentive. Dr Bucha has a real way with animals. He and his staff genuinely care about each and every one of them. I first went to Dr Bucha 5 years ago when my current vet was had nothing further to offer in helping my very sick dog. Dr Bucha took her off all the other medications prescribed, put her on one medication, and changed her diet. It was a miracle. She's been healthy ever since.

No, putting customers first doesn't really seem to be a priority to them

They've never been late to any of my appointments. I've even showed up early sometimes and they've always been ready and prepared. The next time my pet gets sick, there is no way I would ever bring them back to Bucha John VMD again. I would never trust them to take care of my pet. They didn't explain the risks and benefits of my pet's treatment as thoroughly as I was hoping they would. I wish they had given me more information.
