Great nursing staff and reception area…… but horrible wait time. Sat with a lady who continued to throw up in a bag for an hour. I’m currently still waiting for blood results. At the 3 hour mark now. I’ll probably just have to leave and hope they send results and script? Who knows?
I’m sure they are short staffed like all places, but I would avoid this place unless you have no choice.

I came in with severe abdominal pain. I waited 4 hours in the er before even being seen then 3 more hours before they checked each again. I checked
Myself out and went to a different hospital found out that while sitting there my appendix burst. I’ll be calling a lawyer

I wouldn't even give them 1 star. Horrible hospital. Worst ER ever. On our THIRD visit there in a week they actually forgot we were there - we ended up being stuck for 5 hours. And they were NASTY. And then we come home to a bill for the previous ER visit - which he was admitted to the hospital for surgery but because he wasn't there for 3 days they billed it as "outpatient". What a crock. AND they were supposed to supply a doctor's note for work - they never did and refuse to fax one, I will have to drive 40 minutes, after being there for 5 hours overnight, because they "just don't it". From now on we are going to Forbes if need be.

My son was admitted to the mental health ward. This hospital is NOT qualified to treat anyone who is mentally sick.

My brother made many complaints about a co-worker and nothing was ever done to correct it. As a result, he was dismissed for too many absences because he could not work with this person. Had they addressed this personnel issue he would still be there. He is a hard worker and carried his workload and that of this other person. A suspension would have been justified but not being fired. Although I do not know his supervisor's last name, I do know her first name is Janice. This hospital is severely understaffed. Gee! I wonder why?

Had an MRI scheduled today for 9:45am. The less than brilliant scheduler told me to arrive 20 minutes early. I have neck, back and other illness that get worst if I set, stand, lay, etc. to long. Well, I waited for 45 mins. and nothing, the place was empty(Citizens Location) The "receptionist" was worried about my $295.00 co pay!! That was her only concern. In any event, all I heard was people in the back laughing, talking, and having a friggin party while I set, set and set, pain/stiffness getting worst. I knew there was no way I was going to be able to lay still for 30 mins. So I left. This place was only concerned with the damn co pay. You have to apply for Medicaid and be turned down, before they will help you with co pays. I did my part, filled out the forms on compass.com and am still waiting for a denial. I AM NOT THE STATE..the "receptionist" is telling me she does not see me on the list as applying, she handles that!! duh??? Now, does that make me a lair!! THIS PLACE WILL SOON CLOSE, THEY STINK!!!

I have several reservations about Allegheny Valley Hospital.
My grievances are as follows:

1) I found staff at Allegheny Valley Hospital to be indifferent, condescending, unorganized, unaccountable, and unable to keep their promises and commitments.
2) I have reservations that my personal data and the data of my family members are insecure at Allegheny Valley Hospital. They don't seem to give me the reassurance that the identifying information I give to them is secure.
3) When complaints are sent, it will often takes months before I hear anything back from them, and its has caused me considerable stress when I keep asking whether my complaints are going to be responded to. Patients and consumers should have to do that.
4) I have wasted transportation costs, phone calls, time off work, and Allegheny Valley Hospital would not even respond to my attorney. Its not all about civil litigation, in fact much of it has to do with basic customer service satisfaction, and I am not satisfied an any way.

Incompetence is an understatement for the E.R. Three years ago I said I would never go back after they told my pregnant wife that she had miscarried and wanted to do a DNC. We left. A week later we returned when nothing passed naturally only to be told we were still pregnant. So we avoid them killing our only child. Fast forward to today. My father in law who has a blood disorder, fell and was sent there by paramedics. 4 hours later I showed up and he was laying on the floor with his head gash still not cleaned or bandaged. They told me he was a fall risk. Obviously! Was there a fall risk bracelet? NO. Had he fallen out of his bed in there care? Yes. No one cared. Incompetence at its highest at AVH ER.

I do not recommend Allegheny Valley Hospital. A family member and I had a valid complaint that was mostly stone walled and ignored, and even when I had an attorney write a letter of investigation to the hospital, they even ignored the attorney.
AVH has given me the impression that they are not interested in patient feedback or any negative criticism even when it is warranted.
