The 1.5 stars I've given is for everyone at Animal Clinic of Caroline taking good care of my two kittens.
The 3.5 stars I am not giving is because when Dr. Hammett asked me what I was feeding my kittens and I responded with Blue Buffalo brand food, I was shocked, appalled, and disgusted when instead of approving of my wanting to feed what my cats actually need, being obligate carnivores who should NOT be fed most of the fillers in low quality cat food such as corn, wheat, and soy, he became arrogant and argumentative! He said, "there's nothing wrong with Purina, there's nothing wrong with Blue Buffalo, one of them is a lot cheaper than the other," implying that the only difference between the two brands is the price and BB isn't worth it!
He tried to say that people only feed cats canned food because of "one bad study," when the truth is that cats need all or most of their moisture to come from their food, as they do not have a strong enough thirst drive to drink enough water separately.
WORST of all is when he tried to claim that fillers in cat food such as corn, wheat, and soy help prevent weight problems and obesity by "filling up cats and helping them eat less!" WHAT???? Anyone with the most basic research skills can confirm that exactly the opposite is true (and many have experienced it for themselves)! Cats fed food with those fillers not only have more weight problems because their food does not give them enough of what they NEED (protein from meat), they are more prone to a variety of diseases, which pet owners think are normal and not caused by food, because cats try to hide their weakness by instinct. Don't take my word for it, do a little research yourself and you'll learn what I have through all the research I've done! Not only did Dr. Hammet try to push these LIES on me and my beautiful, precious kittens, he was arrogant, rude, and disrespectful, treating me like some abusive moron who was feeding her cats potato chips and having them drink beer!
I sent him a letter with a summary of some of my cat food research, which proved basically all of my arguments, and have not received any sort of response. I can only guess that he either didn't read it or read it but refuses to admit he's wrong and/or thinks he's automatically right because he's a veterinarian. Well, guess what -- veterinarians along with many other people who work with, rescue, or simply love cats all over the country and the world can back me up on this (again, the research is all available for those who seek it) and more and more people are learning the truth! I don't deserve how I was treated for helping my cats thrive, not just survive, and neither do any of you!

His love of the animals he cares for is evident immediately. His attitude and behavior strongly suggest that veterinary medicine and healing is so much more than a profession for him. He has been honest and objective regarding the needs of the animals I have been blessed to care for. He has treated all of us, two legged and four leggeds' with respect. I appreciate that deeply.
