Steve Shedlin also serves in courts as a "vocational expert". He recently was hired by my husband and prepared a report in my divorce case to attest to my spouse's earning capabilities (which of course are taken into consideration for determining the child/spouse support). My husband owed a good share in an IT company valued at millions of dollars, of which he was also the CTO. He sold it 2 months before the divorce trial date at dumping price (but still a few good millions) and declared himself unemployed so he can avoid paying any support. In his report Steve Shedlin made my husband able of just a junior programmer job claiming that he was in a management position and didn't do programming in the past 3-4 years. I don't think Steve Shedlin knows what a junior programmer job is: it is for someone just out of school, or at most with 1-2 years of experience. My husband has more than 20 years of experience in computer science, has a graduate degree and had held highly paid experienced positions. Needless to say, I got basically no support for me and my child, and Steve's report will have consequences for my life and financials for years to come. His position and report were not only unethical but highly unprofessional, since he was hired as a professional not as an accomplice for someone who just wanted to rob his wife and child of support while continuing his lavish lifestyle.
