Use caution before moving in. If you have unlimited funds it is a great place to stay. However when you run out of money and are on Community Care you will receive a nice letter stating that you and your family will have to pay 900.00 a month to keep your loved one there. This was the amount as of 2/3/12. This is for a private room. They said there would be no extra charge for a double room but of course they didn't have one available. Our family could not afford this amount so we had to move my grandmother into The House of the Dove since she was in hospice care that was available and the care was superior. It was very hard on us and her at age 100. She had lived in Wells for 8 years, we felt it was very dirty to force her to move out. She was better off than most since she had addtional income from her teachers retirement fund. She passed away last week after being in The House of the Dove for 5 months. We really didn't feel that a sudden increase of 900.00 was justified. They didn't charge her less when she didn't require much care for the first 7.5 years. I feel they are trying to eliminate people that are on community care.
