Not at all! I've never seen my pet so calm. They really have a gift with animals here.

Unbelievabley gentle, it is very apparant they truly care about pets well-being and comfort

All the vets at Ely Veterinary Clinic are awesome. My first experience there was taking my 14 year old lab to be put down. They had never met me, I walked in on a Saturday in the summer, no appointment, and told them I had to have my dog put down. The receptionist took care of all the payment and details first, then said, "wait a second" and walked out from behind the counter to hold me and hug me - and said, "you will need this." I didn't know her and I instantly felt at home with her! The vet came out to our van and administered the injection right there while my children and I held our lab in our van. It was such an amazing experience that I vowed to only go there from that day forward. We live an about 80 miles away - and it's all curvy crazy roads to get there and I will still take that drive just to have such unique care.

I was recommended this clinic after getting an outrageous estimate from my Vet in Duluth. I called the clinic and the were willing to do the exam and surgery in the same day for 1/4 of the cost. They were incredibly friendly and very professional. They made a different recommendation from my Vet in Duluth that saved my dog pain and extra surgery, and saved me a lot of money! It was worth the drive and would make the trip again in a second. They even called two days later for a follow up to make sure my dog was doing well, and she never had any problems post surgery. Very impressed!

Absolutely! I was never asked to leave and stayed with my pet the whole time

I was nervous about bringing my pets to a new vet because I loved the vet they had in the twin cities before I moved. But I was very pleased with the quality of care and amount of attention given to both me and my pets. I went in to the office with some specific concerns and it turned out those issues weren't the problem, but the vet suggested a number of things I could do to minimize those problems in the future, as they're common problems in older cats. This change involved my significantly changing their diet and preparing much of it myself, which is fine - I've just never before had anyone take the time to talk with me about what to do and where to find more information. I was incredibly grateful for this information. The vet (Dr. Hansen) also spent time going over various causes for some other behavior I've noticed with my cats over time and more recently, made some suggestions, and started with the less invasive/intrusive means of care, which I appreciate. It's how I want doctors to provide care for ME, but it's hard to find vets willing to take this approach.

I very much felt I could call with questions any time, that I could bring my cats back at any time, and that they would work with me to provide my cats the best care possible. Also, my cats seemed comfortable with the vet (well, as comfortable as they can be), and I appreciated that, other than when the vet needed to examine them or check out certain behavior, he let me hold them as opposed to having him on the table. Also, while we were there, he took a look at my other cat, as the two have been together for 15 years. And, I got all this care and attention for my cats on me on a day where the clinic was clearly very busy!

All in all, a positive experience and I'll definitely go back. My only wish is that they were closer as it's 22 miles down windy road to get there - although the office is fortunately super easy to find and right where I drive in to Ely. If you're new to the area or have concerns about the care your pet is getting elsewhere, give the Ely Vet Clinic a try. I think you'll be happy you did!
