I wish it was possible to give less than half of a star. I had been suffering with flu like symptoms for a week and I woke up feeling extremely light-headed and completely off. I knew I needed medical attention so despite it being 3am I took a cab to the Fox emergency room. I am still in disbelief over my treatment. After a nurse took my vitals I was sent to a room where I proceeded to sit for THREE HOURS before he or anyone else so much as checked in on me. In the room next to me they were forced to sedate a young woman who was extremely intoxicated so I can understand that they were distracted. However, even after the woman was put out I was ignored. Finally the original nurse came in to check on me and asked if I needed anything, I asked if I could possibly get tylenol for a throbbing headache. He said not without a prescription, what? So I waited for another forty five minutes he returned with *gasp* tylenol and administered a flu nasal swab test. He left and informed me that they were switching over shifts (it was now 7am) Finally a doctor came into my room after another hour. At this point my wonderfully patient friend was sitting in the room with me. Immediately the doctor asks why I am there and I explain I had been having flu symptoms and a very bad cough, he played dumb and made me explain what flu symptoms were to him, he said "I'm a caveman, what are flu symptoms" After the charade of me explaining my symptoms he informed me my flu test came back negative and I had a cold. Then he said I should take advil and mucinex and sleep (which I definitely hadn't already been doing for a week and a half...) and then he proceeded to berate me and ask if my college had "some sort of stupid policy" where a friend needed to accompany someone to the hospital. I told him no and that I did not feel safe riding a cab alone at three in the morning, he laughed at me and said something about girls always having friends with them. A sexist joke on top of his complete dismissal of my concerns, excellent. He promptly left the room and went onto harass the sedated drunk girl in the room next door by hitting her shoulders repeatedly and demanding to know why she was there (she didn't remember anything and kept begging him to stop.) It took ANOTHER hour for me to get discharged and right as I was about to leave I glanced down at my papers and saw that I had been handed someone else's information. Grand. I left around nine am, I had been there over six hours and had absolutely nothing done for me.
The following day I went to Fox Now and was immediately diagnosed with bronchitis and prescribed antibiotics.
I will never return to Fox Memorial Hospital, unless I am physically carted in on my deathbed by EMTs.
