Very understanding of the cost of having an animal and they can be pretty pricey at time. They're aware of these issues and still take care of your animals.

Dr. Falkner goes out of his way to help my pets. They're reasonable with their prices as well, I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.

Taking my pets to Dr. Falkner, I know that they are in good hands. This is the best animal hospital in Amarillo.

We took our Australian Shepherd in for a wellness check the day after we brought him home. The new vet, Dr. Marion, saw our 6 week old Aussie. He took the dog's temperature, felt over his body, checked his ears & said they were dirty. He handed me an expensive ear cleaner. He handed me a trial box of Heartgard & said start him on this Sept. 1. Aussies can have a toxic reaction to Ivermectin which is in some heart worm medicines IF they have the MDR1 gene. He DID NOT EVEN ASK if our Aussie had been tested for the MDR1 gene. Heartgard has Ivermectin in it!! This is a direct quote about heartworm medicine from Hope Veterinary Clinic's website: "Some are recommended to be superior to other products due to the pet's tolerance of the medications in the product. For instance, we recommend that the Collie and Sheltie breeds do not take Ivermectin based products "
The vet never used his stethoscope to listen to the dog's heart or lungs. We told him our dog had his 6 weeks shot as well as liquid dewormer at 4 & 6 weeks. The vet told us to come back for the 2nd shot in 3 weeks, but said nothing about a deworming schedule. I thought when puppies start the deworming they were to be dewormed every 2 weeks after that! Since we're new at this, we expected the vet to care enough about our pet to tell us about all needed shots & meds. Obviously NOT!

I took my animals to Hope Vet almost 10 years ago before moving away from the area. They were amazing! What I especially appreciated about this vet was he didn't charge an office visit. If I took my dog to see him and chose not to have her treated, there was no fee. It was abundantly obvious that the goal of this clinic was to maintain the health of the patients- not making money. I have moved back to the Amarillo area and will be taking my pets back to Dr. Faulkner.
