We've finally found an outstanding veterinary hospital we feel completely satisfied with. I've taken both of our cats in to see Dr. Heinen at different times within the last year for separate issues. Having never been to the hospital before last year, I was skeptical of vets in the area as I have been to a few that were super expensive and the quality of care that was received just didn't match up to our bill. The quality of this place made me feel like I was dealing with true medical professionals, this was not some shot clinic. We met Dr. Heinen and instantly felt his warmth and compassion for our furry babies and for us as well and felt his knowledge was really impressive. He listened to our questions and was very patient with our freaked out cat. Our visit didn't feel rushed and the care we received was exceptional! Dr. Heinen personally called to check on our cats a few days later just to see how things were going. It felt nice to receive a call and not from a front desk person but from the Dr. himself. Could not tell you how much we appreciate Dr. Heinen and Gandy Animal Hospital. You have us as long term clients for sure. Great job to all of you.

Every time I go here I feel nickel and dimed. I echo the sentiments of other reviewer in that its a money machine; they chastize me about not getting this or that (I have owned pets my entire life and am a very responsible educated pet owner) and seem to always act as if I don't know what I am talking about. They appear to me to care more about making money than giving good pet care AND customer service to existing customers. I plan to change vets asap.

Their office was clean enough, nothing special though. Their staff was somewhat friendly, but they didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome. They played the typical, annoying elevator music. It did not make for a pleasing environment. The staff and veterinarian criticized me on the way I have been caring for my pet and then gave me no additional information on what I could be doing better to keep my pet healthy and happy. I had to wait quite a while for my appointment. I was very disappointed. I feel they operated on my pet, and it was not necessary. After paying $750.00, they charge for a post op check. Well, they broke the bill down, and put no charge to walk in the door, but they charge $29.85 to recheck my dog's ear. I do not feel there should be a "charge" for a post op visit. If they were going to charge, they should have told me up front. I feel that the vets do not have the pets best interest in mind, they are only thinking of the money. I have never taken my animals to a vet who put money before the care of an animal. I am in the medical field, and I am sure glad that MDs do not think of the money, and they do think of the patient's health. I made my first mistake by walking in the door of Gandy Animal Hospital. Thank goodness for real vets, like Tampa Vet Hospital on Kennedy. They have the animals health in their best interest.
