My mother was at the hospice house for approximately 5 weeks prior to her death, April 2015 - May 9, 2015. The staff, doctors and nurses were wonderful. Mom and our family and her friends were extremely pleased and appreciate the loving care she received . They called her the queen while she was there and treated her as one.
Be aware the first thing that is done is that the doctor on staff discontinues all the patients medications. If they do not have the correct medication , you have to provide it. Only what the doctor on staff will allow, not what your loved one was ordered prior to admission to this hospice. This includes heart medicine. I had to call the elder in the church who personally opened the BiLo pharmacy ,as he is the pharmacist there. Obtained my husband's Rxs, delivered them to our residence, so our daughter could give them to me. Quiet is not always the way everyone lives, and dies. When a nurse came into the room and told my daughter to keep our grandchildren quiet, so my husband could rest , this was not appropriate. He lived to hear our children, and grandchildren...they were well behaved, and quiet as it was. I had to obtain my own durable medical equipment from a staff person who worked @ another facility( a condom cath). The art work is depressing, black and white prints. The decor was more depressing then the furneral home we went to. The only positive thing that as a wife and RN I can think of is we were able to bring his dogs into visit, before I revoked his care and returned him to another facility.
In memory of my father, Hugh Pressley - He was in this facility three times this year and they treated him very well. Thanks to all the staff and his social worker for caring for him. He is missed greatly by his family.
Their equipment was very advanced and sophisticated. I was very impressed. I will definitely recommend them to people I know. I've never had to worry about them being understaffed or not being able to help me right when I need it. They have a huge staff that's very knowledgeable and qualified. They do such a great job of never overbooking appointments, even though they are extremely popular. I know for a fact that they have lots of business, but I've never had to wait a long time in a crowded waiting room like other places I've been too.
