I went in with the rollers and my hair was dried. All they had to do was blow dry it straight. My hair was already soft and ready to blow dry, it should have been that simply. I walked in the lady sat me down right away (that is the only star they get), There was a nasty attitude in the air, there was a lot of eye rolling that was unneccessary. All they are worried about it the tip, if you want a good tip do good job. The job was mediocre, I had to tie my hair the next day. And the place was filthy, the brushes were not cleaned and full of hair. Disgusting. Dont go there

i work 9-6 in the city and it's hard for me to find a Dominican salon open late for a reasonable price. my moms friend mentions Gloria's Salon in Union City and I found out they close late. I called about two hours before they closed to see if they would do my hair if I arrive by 7. They said they would & it would cost $10. I arrive at 7 and I walk into about 6 hairdressers doing hair in a fast pace and about 3 people waiting. I wanted a wash, rollers and blow dryer so I figured I would leave by 10, until I see people having their turn fast. The space was a messy with hair supplies stacked in shelves all messy. 15 min later, a lady taps me in the shoulder and takes me to a sink. First she was being rough with my head and shaking my head all over the sink. The water was cold when she washed it. Then she would shampoo it but pulling my hair. Last she didnt condition or comb my hair. She just put shampoo in my hair then washed it out. She takes me to a chair and combs my hair with a bristol brush [while it's wet! I have corse Dominican hair that needs to be combed with combs]. She splits my hair into 3 pieces and just starts blow drying! my hair shouldn't go from wet to dry like that. It damages it badly. Right away I knew that the lady isn't going to care if my hair is good or not. She finished my hair in about 10 minutes. left it smoking LITERALLY and added grease and sent me on my way. I was so furious but I didn't want to say anything bc I'm young and respect people. I paid with my debit but although it was suppose be $10, she charged me $12 for using my card. I couldn't leave a tip on my debit so I had to fish for change. I didn't want to give the lady change so I asked the owner if she can switch out the coins for dollars and she said 'Money is money! Don't be embarrased' and everyone looked at me. I went to my horrible hairdresser and apologized that I only had $2 in change & not dollars.

Now, normally if I had better customer service, I would've gave her more if she wasn't so rough. Maybe the $10 is an late bird special or just a quick deal and I know I was the last few that came in but if that's what I get for $10, then I want my money back. If you didn't want me to come, don't tell me that it's ok to come in an hour before closing.

They deserve half a star bc the prices are a little reasonable but if they don't care about how the hair is treated then that's bad on their part as a hairdresser. I'm never going there again. I'm hoping that other people don't experience this and I'm hoping that they're not like that for their other services.
