We were quite impessed with Heather Thomas and her showing the facility. We loved the 2 bed room. Heather went thru all tings with us and I'm preparing admission papers for us at this time. The residents we talked with during the tour simply love the care they receive there.

My dad (94 ) was recently at Mercy West park in the rehab/ skilled nursing area. The nurses, doctor, nurses aids, orderlies, food servers and staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. However, when it came to the social worker, Kris Moreland---she could not have been worse of less caring---no TLC here. My dad was there for a total of 20 days and she put a release form in our face and told us to sign. We saw my dad making progress, but did not feel he was ready to be released. We filed and appeal. I talked to the doctor and he was in agreement he should stay longer. They did not even consult the doctor on their decision. We called Humana Gold and they said even if the appeal failed, my father could stay for a longer time for just $167 per day---we called Humana twice to confirm with the same result. When we got to the hospital Kris called and they said it would be $480 a day---very confusing. I am very disappointed and my father (severely injured at age of 19 and war hero) was treated this way. He was definitely not ready to come home.

The rehab portion of this facility was adequate. The nursing home was a place that I would not send anyone- much less someone that I care deeply for. Staff is overworked, undertrained. Much of residents time is spent on "their own" wandering or wheeling about the hallways or lined up to "watch" television without the sound turned up. There is little to no personal touch. It is noisy (the staff) and deadly boring for the residents. It was clean but that was about it.
