I was very displeased with this facility! My mother was a patient here, and I feel the staff was very unprofessional, the social workers were no help at all, and I feel my mother was unsafely discharged. There was a lot of gossiping talk going on in areas where patients were which made this very uncomfortable. I had a chance to speak with the director of nursing and I feel that she really wasn't listening to me, but just agreeing. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

They freeze the residents night, so they are unable to get out of the bed to ask for anything. There is only one nurse in the entire building, sometimes none.

there is a crying mother who lives there because she is not allowed to see her grown children because the grown child who has rectal cancer and has diarrhea and bleeding, took 2 rolls of toilet paper from the mother's bathroom. instead of charging the mother's room or giving the woman a warning, she is not allowed to see her mother or even visit her in the lobby and it's been 6 months! the mother cries for not having to see her child and the woman can't see her mother while she goes through chemo.
this isn't right.

my wife was addmitted for rehab for heart attack and copd. she was on a bipap at night to keep her c02 level down. we got to marshwood on a thursday. they didn,t have a mask for her to used the b-pap machine. blamed the hospital for not sending one. so she went thurs and fri night without. finnaly got one sat afternoon.to late, she got very weak and was full of co2. sent her back to the hospital her co2 was 80 normal is 30.just before she left for the hospital a manager came in the room and told my wife she has to wear the bipap even if she takes a nap. well the machine was 5 feet away from her bed and she was bed ridden. so she couldn.t reach it.so somebody would have to put it on her. they also increased her morphine from hospital 2.5 to 5 without asking to do so with my wife. after those 2and a half days off the b-ipap she never recovered and died shortly after

The building appearance is very nice and the staff I met with the food seemed very nice (at least to me, the visitor of my family member staying there). Some of the people seem very professional and deserving of credit. It is the others I am concerned about. Medicines are not always given as they should be. I have seen some left at the window and some being thrown in the trash. Is this normal?? Also leaving a resident suffering for an hour to 4 hours and not coming to help them is NOT appropriate. When you leave urine and feces on an elderly persons skin it breaks the skin down. Taking their diaper off and not washing them is also unhealthy. These are things we have seen personally and had to stop. I am not impressed with this place and, if you don't plan on being with your family member daily and frequently through-out the day, I highly recommend you avoid this place. Unless they can be more professional in how they take care of the residents, it is not a healthy place to be. SO sad because it seems so nice :( I just want someone to be aware because so far we are getting no where when asking for help. Please take care of your family members. I am not here to bash but here to make you aware.

I have a loved one living at Marshwood and is extremely pleased with the staff. It's not a depressing Nursing Home like most of the ones that I have visited. They do the best that they can to accommodate the resident and the involved family members. I am comfortable asking them questions and I know my loved one is getting the best care available. There are a ton of activities to do to keep the residents occupied. It's like a big family, there are plenty of areas to sit and visit with your loved one. I think it's a beautiful facility. Thank you Marshwood...you have made my life a lot easier!
