The staff is constantly answering their phones when they're supposed to be helping patients. They really should wait until their break or something. There was lots of available parking at their office. I was glad that I didn't have to drive around looking for parking. They consistently dismiss my concerns . I don't trust them to ever actually look into my concerns and see if they're valid. . Although they didn't answer the call at first, they did eventually call me back.. Their alzheimers unit had the most uneducated staff, they knew nothing about caring for a patient with alzheimers. They were constantly looking for ways to use chemical restraints with my father. The social worker called me one day 13 times , interrupting my time at work, trying to convince me that my father should be moved to another facility , for evaluation of his behavior. Really, as a nurse I know, behavioral change are part of alzheimers disease . And their psychiatrist who came to see my dad wanted to put him on antipsychotropic medication, even though it carried a black box warning about use in the elderly and my father also had chronic renal failure. One of the biggest problems was they wanted to discontinue his Exelon, which I had adamantly refused , as it had helped slow his cognitive decline. However, when I was away, my father ended up in the hospital , upon his return the medication was discontinued without making me aware of the change and I was his power of attorney and health care proxy. My father had a rapid decline in his mental status, ended up having physical problems within 2 months of the discontinuation of that medication and died within that time period. The nurses lacked any insight into basic nursing! My father was edematous from his hips down, plus 4 pitting , related to congestive heart failure. I questioned the nurse on 3-11 about his edema (which I might add) had never been addressed or assessed by her on the start of her shift. She told me they had noted it in the am and he had gotten an extra 20mg of Lasix in the am. So I then asked her if he had be urinating since the additional dose and she didn't know. I next asked her about calling the physician again for an additional dose and she told me he had gotten an extra dose in the day. I had to remind her of what Lasix is, the time span between receiving it and its actions. I insisted she call the physician to get more Lasix , which she did do, at my insistence. I do want to say the 11-7 shift seemed to provide exceptional care, they met the needs of the patients by not trying to make the patients comply with fact that it was 11-7 and they should be asleep , which as anyone who deals with this population knows there is a disruption in the normal sleeping. They would have a gathering of the residents by the nurses station who were allowed to eat, chatter amongst themselves and not be forced to comply with once was their normal sleep patterns.
The staff truly lacked any insight into the disease and changes in the person that sadly accompany it.
As awful as it sounds , there were so many more issues. When I have been asked about it from friends seeking care for their family member, I do make it a point not to recommend the Billerica life care center.
And lastly I certainly hope this is read by someone within that organization who will make necessary changes, especially in regard to staff education.

Kind of, it wasn't unbearable but it was definitely loud

Not at all. They were too arrogant to ask for any assistance, even though they knew it would help

This place is lower than low/. My sister was here for a month and never saw a dr. they didn't take her input about her own health seriously. She asked to see a dr and none came. She couldn't breathe and they told her it was anxiety and had to call 911 herself. She was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia. this facility must be more concerned with making money then the care of their patients. I wouldn't recommend this place to an animal

The waiting room here is spacious. I never feel like I have to sit too close to someone or that it is overcrowded. They have really great customer service here. They always put their customers first, regardless of the situation. I am always so impressed with how quickly my calls are answered here. I am never put on hold for a long time and love knowing that if I have a quick question I won't have to wait a half hour through terrible music to get it answered. I love that they are always more than happy to answer my questions, and actually welcome questions. I've felt awkward at some other places I've visited when I've tried to ask a lot of questions, but not here.
