My family and I are very unhappy with the management at Glacier Hills. Both our parents lived there and while the staff was caring and competent, the management was focused on revenues and cost containment. Shortly after my mother's death, and due to a mix up with insurance, my elderly father was threatened with eviction. Very disappointing that the management chose not to contact a family member despite the fact that we were there at least weekly, and the staff knew us by name. Once we became aware of the situation, it was resolved in a matter of days. Don't get on the wrong side of the administration, they are more interested in the bottom line than in providing compassionate care for their residents.

The administration is totally incompetent. The caring staff are great! The administration began lying to us about administering medications and claimed it was the DEA's fault they my wife went 6 hours without pain medication. The nursing staff, except for the nursing manager that couldn't find time to address our concerns, was great. But when the administration starting creating false stories out of nowhere I became worried about my wife's safety. We could not get out of this place fast enough. I have recorded the administrations conversations with us should anyone question my review.

I could not have made a better choice in choosing a facility for my followup care. It was by far one of the most pleasant experiences of my health care. Everyone, from the reception area to housekeeping and everyone in between, were always on their game. If ever I am in need of Rehab Care again, Glacier Hills Care and Rehabilitation will be my facility of choice.

In May, 2010 I had total knee replacement and chose Glacier Hills to for extended rehab immediately after my stay at the hospital. When I arrived I was told that my medication, including pain medication, had not arrived from their pharmacy supplier. I was PISSED. No heart meds, no pain meds - I couldn't believe it! The nursing staff was confused about me. They didn't know when the medication would arrive. I kept being told bullshit that it was on its way, or that it would arrive shortly. I waited hours and hours for my medication to arrive. I was told by the nursing staff that this confusion is commonplace. I didn't receive my allotted medication until basically the next day. I was in dire need of my heart and pain medication. I was in SO MUCH PAIN because I was without my pain meds far too long. I contacted my U of M Nurse Case Manager early the next morning and notified her of the Glacier Hills debacle. Shortly after I spoke to the Nurse Case Manager she, my wife, Glacier Hills customer service manager, and I met together in my room and discussed the poor treatment I received the previous day. Thanks to the Nurse Case Manager I was allowed to move from a semi-private room to a private room (courtesy of Glacier Hills) where I had much better care. The rehab staff was great and the food was good as well. If I need to utilize a skilled nursing staff facility again I am not certain if I would choose Glacier Hills. For that matter I am not completely convinced that Heartland Ann Arbor is a better choice either. I stayed at Heartland after major surgery as well.

They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their staff was friendly enough, but they didn't go out of their way to help me. They didn't help me as much as I was hoping and didn't answer all my questions. It was pretty hard to find the building, but I eventually found it. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed. They had no set schedule. Couldn't tell me when he was going to be seen by ot n pt until I pressed the issue. The aides have up to 12 patients and I found when they have 10 its hard for them to handle this amount. Unfortunately I took the word of Doctors and Nurses from U of M who said they heard only good things about Galcier Hills Sub Acute Rehab Center. The first three days he was there it was complete confussion. From a medical aspect and a overall care aspect. He sat in a wet depends until 10:30am when I came in and complained. If I hadn't come in, just how long would would he have waited.. My husband is a very quiet person. He is having trouble remembering things since his stroke so I know not to ask him about his care. I would not recommend this place to anyone. While I'm at the center things are going a little better but when I pop in I'm not happy with what I find. The only answer I got was from an aid who said, I have 10 patients to take care of. I wasnt asking for anything unreasonable just why is he still sitting in a wet depends at this late hour in the morning.
