These reviews seems recent, but my experience was completely different. We have had 3 family members in several nursing homes over the years. I only knew one kind. The odor knocks you over, staff seems unhappy, residents not smiling, only outside area would be benches by the door.
The thought of placing my mother in this enviroment for her rehab after knee replacement set uneasy with me. (Sept 2012) I was shocked when I walked in and everyone was happy with smiles on their faces. As I went to my mothers room, I noticed the residents were happy and content. The room was a little small, but it was a very well worth the trade off. She received excellent care (they actually spoiled her a little bit). Wonderful paved trails outside with setting areas. My only sadness is I wish I would have known about Evergreen with my 2 grandmothers and aunt. I didn't know places like this existed. As far as questions, I understood they were busy with the residents (like my mother!) and just asked when they had time, I would like to talk to them. They would always find me and we would talk. There were always activities going on and it humored me when they had the whole center ready for football season complete with parties.

My parent hasn't been there long. So far the staff seems to be nice to me and my parent. We aren't sure how much therapy he is getting. But I don't think I have reason to complain. I think my parent would let us know if they were dissatisfied.
I've been glad that the place doesn't have any strong or bad smells.
