I feel strongly that some of these reviews are really far off! Both of my parents have been residents of this nursing home and in every way they were treated with respect. The professionals at this facility are just that, professional and helpful whenever asked to assist in a matter. I have seen relatives of patients there become unruly and rude to nurses, but they maintain their calm and have the best interests of the patients in mind at all times.
I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants their relative to be in a well rounded, caring environment where people are treated humanely and are able to socialize, attend regular social events, eat very healthy and diverse meals, and be taken care of as one would be in their own home!!

Very poor nursing home in my opinion. Yes, some of the nurses are very pleasant and if you complain about any part of your loved ones care, they are very nice about saying they will change how they are doing something. However, if you are very attentive to your loved ones care and pay attention, you will notice they are very slack in what they do and not good at all about identifying symptoms that will lead to a more serious infection or illness if not treated. They are not good at all about making sure urinals or bedpans aren't laying around on surfaces that people will be eating from or sitting on. They aren't good about making sure woulnd care is done in a timely manner. I am a nurse and had to actually go get a nurse on numerous occasions and let her know that my loved one needed to see a doctor because they were going in to congestive heart failure and they needed to stop treating them for COPD which they did not even have a diagnosis for. They are also very quick to medicate them at night if they are agitated or ringing the bell too much. We had to finally call our family members personal doctor to get the to call and have the sedation med stopped in order to get them to stop giving it. I even had to have them have the nursing home doctor call me at home and I had to explain to him why he needed to change the dosage of a cardiac med. After my explanation, the doctor said "oh I guess you are probably right", the change was made and our family member improved. Really????? Do I need to be the one to diagnose, ask for treatment, and make sure my loved one is treated properly. I would never have my loved one here by choice.......I have even reported them to the state in the past.....funny how the "state" never finds anything when they look throught the charts. Someone is good about covering things up..........Think twice before admitting your family member here, or else you had better be very involved in their care and make the nurses and doctors be more accountable. Don't say you haven't been warned!

My grandfather was at this facility. I was very unimpressed with numerous things they did. First of all. One of the nurses named Souix was working with a client who was having some problems with her blood pressure. Souix went over to the medication cart, got some medication, and on her way back to the patients room leaned over to my grandfather (who was sitting across from me at the dinner table) and said "I knew I should have stayed home today." I know that we all have times that we are not happy with out jobs, but for someone to say this to another patient there was very unreasonable, and uncalled for. He looked at me and said "well, atleast she is honest..." Secondly, my husband and I went into the clinic, and saw that his eyes were very red. Looked like an infection. We mentioned it to the nurse on duty who told us that they did notice something looked wrong, but admittedly hadn't done anything to try to fix the problem. After 3 days of STILL waiting, we had had enough, and asked and demanded that something was to be done. Their excuse was that they couldn't do anything until they had "doctors orders." This was probably the case... but this will be important later in my review. In another instance, we went in and the table that he is supposed to be eating off, also had his urinal on it... and it was leaking. My grandfather has Lupus in which he had some open wounds on his feet. When his primary care physician came into the nursing home to check on him, she told the nurses that it was very important for them to keep a better eye on his wounds (as there was dried blood between his toes, and infection). The nurse on duty literally let out a sigh, and goes "okay." One of his toes was to the point where it is looking like gangreene and may need to be amputated. We as a family made a committment to begin checking more regularly at his feet to make sure things were being done. We went in to visit with him a few days ago, and he told us about getting into an argument with nursing, because they didn't change his bandaging. They were saying that they did take care of it. After more arguing about it, they finally called the nurse who signed off on doing it, to stated that she did in fact mark off that she did it, but really didn't. This is a man whose toe may need to be amutated because of infection. During a family meeting with the primary care and social services, it was decided that our grandfather was no longer able to smoke if he went home. (He has been diagnosed with state 3 lung cancer, and has been given no longer than 6 months to live.) The doctor wrote strict orders for no longer allowing him to smoke AT ALL!! At this visit with him, with the feet ordeal, we learned that nursing staff was giving him their own personal cigarettes for him to go outside and smoke. Now, I understand that he is ultimately dying from his cigarettes, I get that. But with the eye situation we were told that they couldn't do anything until they had doctors orders, and now with STRICT doctors orders they were literally handing him cigarettes. This is so inapropriate it isn't funny. They should be fired. I was and am SO unhappy with this facility that I can't even fathom what it is like for people who do not have someone looking after them. If I could give this clinic 0 stars it would still be too many.
