brunswick Cove was a very painful place to visit once you got passed the smell. not only to mention the bed bugs, roaches ,rats, and snakes at night. nor the staff infection you will catch there. not sure if much has changed since2010 or since the lady Mary son has taking over . all this to ssay nothing better boyt the food. if you want your lved one to die quick place them here

I was pleased with the change since a couple years ago. A member of family residing there with deceived parents to include other family members not in area, or busy careers....I will say that my first visit sense approx that time was impressed cause she had been moves to different section with different nursing staff who seem to love her and she them
however there was this other time that I didn't care for the way they schedule Changing of diapers leaving it seem that I'd left in time for them to get her cleaned next and while exiting out noticed that all where getting cleaned up at same time and the smell grew worst as I couldn't breath trying exit out. I didn't care for one nurses attitude after was told the computers or info stored left the building and all new with no transferring of family info (health history too?) so they needed another relatives number of mine. After giving this info requested I'd asked if couple others were needed as well cause i know good and well theyd want that info restored or added ...my family member they'd asked about was all they wanted. So, I disagree with that because the one they were asking about may be her main contact to have say or agree with anything medical but she was in hospital and not been doing well on oxygen plus getting up there in age. It rubbed me wrong exiting out the door. I didn't feel my presents was welcomed or comfortable to ask questions that I'd had or could tolerate the foul odor. I did feel it was angels from up above with concern for my family to go check on her and will be doing a whole lot more of it in neat future...soon and I may come across sweet as grannies apple pie but if that switch gets flipped enough I will put one in their place bluntly and without hesitation. I will grow furious if I find that any of the reviews I'm reading here are happening and I pop in when I want.....unless you all have some legal reason for shutting family out .....no one should be made to feel as I did when I left that day and what ashame that I wanted to leave an excellent review and after the last 2 or 3 wasn't happy about them not wanting to have enough or amuch family info to reach out to in case of some traggedy. And I knew when she didn't know who I was talking about with one brother that they gotta know oh trust me this stuff with bedbugs will be checked again after the last visit and now had me thinking they wanted just one person number as if sat o had no right there when I know who I am better ham them and that's my family up in that place DARN RiGHT I'm going to report anything to include check on her when I can and want. Wow. I'm not so sure I want to believe my first impression being great seeing what's been written with reviews however I'm not going to say that I didn't see improvement either because my love one has been stavle and normal acting....before then "we " all " had concern for our family member there because lIove ones have passed and I was seeing signs of mess not being properly administered....for that I will say YAY I'm praying that there are really changes for best and not just my hopes.

ThanKS to nurses behind that part ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT THEM MENTALLY and that's my primary concern for feelino moved by my grandma and papa up there in heaven to stop in.....please Lord please watch over these patients, nurses who care or not truly called to do what we as family hope for with the care by kinder staff that care for them all as I feel a couple in mind there working with my aunt there amd all the other care given by them all there. To reach out if staff feel something isn't to inform us as family who would want to know exactly what's going on...we all depend on each other for the feedback on anything to do with her and no family should feel they aren't welcome when I've been trying encourage more visits by some of the younger ones in family ....they dont need discouraging with that but encourage them too.

Again thank you for the awesome change with what I've seen so far other than communication problems so I'm giving 5

I visited a friend of mine at Brunswick Cove for the first time yesterday. Walking in the smell was overwhelming and it was the same throughout the building. Residents were sitting in wheelchairs doing nothing. I found my friend sitting alone in a wheelchair in her room with a hospital table in front of her. The only thing she had to look at was the wall. On a small cheap looking dresser were family pictures. She was wearing mismatched clothes. Her arms were very cold. I found a long sleeved shirt and put it on her. The staff just said she's always cold !! I wouldn't leave my cat in that place !! It's disgusting !!!

I am not sure who runs this facility, but I was disgusted by the lack of cleanliness. I felt for every patient in there as it seemed like a dumping ground for patients on medicaid. The State of NC needs to follow-up on these facilities. I am sure the staff is overworked and underpaid. I delt with one very helpful CNA and Nurse. I cannot say they were the friendliest people, however they answered most of my questions but I could have used more information. My Father's needs were met at a minimal level. The staff did not communicate well with the family.
I was also informed from another patient (there for only physical therapy) that the food was aweful. Our family worked hard to remove my father from this facility. I believe the state of NC needs to keep a closer eye on this facility.
