My mother has lived at the Berlin Nursing Home for 8 years; she is in better health and receives a lot of attention. We attended a family luncheon that was held at the facility, the menu didn't include gravy but the staff knew that my mother would want gravy. One of the staff went into the kitchen and had some prepared just for my mother! That is just one example of how much they care for the residents.
the nursing staff was rude, unfriendly, and didn't seem to take much interest in the residents. I've seen residents be mistreated. most of the residents seemed bored and wondered a lot. didn't seem that there was anything for them to do. administration was also unfriendly, didn't really have the answers to my questions, and seemed unorganized. the receptionist was helpful with my questions. I was disappointed in my experience, and don't think I will be returning nor thinking about putting my parents in that home.
I worked at the berlin nursing home and yes the staff as far as the directors go are very polite and very helpfull,as is the greeter as soon as you walk in shes very polite and everyone gets a big smile. However I would not leave a loved one in that place ever I have wittnessed GNA,s treating their residents very poorly and even made the director of nursing aware and all that was done wasa she actually talked to a few of the patients who could talk and of course they said nothing after that I asked the resident why they didnt speak up and it was fear they knew that nothing would be done and they would be in their care again so think carefully before you entrust your loved one in any nursing home or all I can say is check on them often and at all different times. while I know their are some wonderfull GNAs working thers just as many bad and they rotate so whoever is their caregiver they have them all week. Good Luck in whatever direction you decide to go
